Just done some jumping on the lunge with my 6yo connemara. Wasnt planning on it but he just wasn't tuned in or thinking on the flat so I gave him something to do!

Although he was very good going into and over the jumps, after every one, maybe 2 or 3 strides after, he stops and turns in to me.

This could be because I don't do it much with him at all (probably the 4th time ever) and he just needs to get the hang of it but are there any tips, tricks or methods I could use? Or is it a case of just driving him on more afterwards?

When he turns in towards you, what I would do is point the lunge whip to his shoulder to keep him out. I think it's probably just a case of he hasn't done it much.

As above said... point the whip at his shoulder. If that doesn't stop him then you could try walking towards him, pushing him away with your body language keeping the whip pointed at his shoulder.
