My beautiful 3yrs old horse has took it upon himself to find out for himself if the grass really is greener on the otherside of the fence. I know I bought a showjumper but please he is acting like he has springs in his feet and the frustrating thing is I havent even seen him jump yet. Anyone else have this issue?

YEP!!! Saterday new gelding out with old mare, the only place he could have jumped small gap and we measured the height 3 3". Must admit I nearly had heart attack turning up at my stables to see ground churned up and said mare and gelding trying to break into my feedbins.

My old mare used to this all the time. She has jumped 5 bar gates, fences, a water trough, a wire fence, a 3ft6 fence from stand still on concreate!!

My other mare has cleared the fence a few times once because one of the dog walker who gives her carrots was walking past the other field, the other time was when the other 2 went galloping though the gate way and she didn't want to get her feet muddy!! Also a double fence, to go and see the horses from next door. We ended up putting the fence up to nearly 5ft cos she was definately eying it up.

We have a horse who will jump 5 bar gates to get into other fields. We're not sure if it's for grass or because he's attached to another horse. Is he getting in with other horses, one in particular he is quite attached to?

maybe he's just in training for his jumping career!
: o )

It was sunny yesterday and my horse felt fantastic about himself. He was careering round on the lunge, bucking, literally canter flat out down the long side and he had his tail flipped right up and was being all fancy pants with a huge trot stride!

Yup, my boy will happily pop himself over the electric tape if he thinks there's a way to get to some grass thats better than what he's got in his muddy field! He's only 14.2 but when his belly is rumbling, then his legs have springs!!

Oh yes, my 5yr holsteiner has jumped a 5bar metal gate out of the arena to the field when I tried loose schooling practically from standstill and on another occasion when everything was covered in ice & snow he jumped another 5bar out of the field, I thought I had left the gate open so popped him back in only to see him leaped out again from trot. It was because I put him out first while I went to get the other horse...Obviously doesn't like being on his own. So we don't do either now. Luckily still a fair bit of grass in the field so he hasn't gone exploring.
