My horse has decided that his new trick to send me over the edge with worry is to jump out of his field! The fields are lovely and natural and there is no shortage of food. He was out with 2 others. He has no respect for electric fencing and the metal gates. He is so very pleased with himself and I dont know what to do! I am petrified he will hurt himself if i put him out again. He just comes straight back to the stable not anywhere else. He did it twice last week and he has never done it before. Any suggestions?

My lad is like that and always has been. I've never found a way to stop him and no reason for it. I think he gets bored. He's 11 now and touch wood hasn't hurt himself yet. Good luck with him x

yes he does, he just hops in and out of fields now. He doesn't really leave the others unless he brings himself up to the yard. The first time he did it I was out competing and goit back to find him stood in the yard (the gates were open!) he had jumped through 3 fields to get back there. It's no help to you but he doesn't hurt himself and is great with all the others. It's like musical horses though, he's never where I left him!

Mine does this too. Usually if they are taking his buddies in he'll decide he'd rather come in NOW rather than wait.
Gave my friend a hell of a shock when he first did it, as he has to jump a 5-bar gate to get out! Now they either bring him in with the first batch, or let him follow along loose and put himself in his box.
