hiya,
was just wanting to ask peoples general opinions on the matter of a pony jumping out of the stable.
We have an 18 year old 12.2hh show pony who sadly get's very fat very quickly and is lamatentic. he;s the fine build of pony and has no other real vices and is used for general hacking with a 6 year iold boy whom he appears to adore. The problem is now that he desperatly needs to be bought in to control his wieght as even a muzzle will now not do the trick and restricted grazing has been unsuccessful as he just charges through the tape.
However, bringing him in has not been easy as he simply jumps the stable door, we have 10 victorian farmyard style boxes here and we have tried him in the larger stable with a higher door which he jumped but got stuck halfway, then we tried one he could look out of itn an attempt to calm him but he leapt it, then we put him in an internal stable which he tried to leap out of aswell. It doesn't matter wether his freinds are in or not he just doesn't want to be there. The vet reccomended that we try anti weave bars or a something substantial- as a simple bar accross has been tried and jumped. I have heard so many bad things about anti weave bars though that i am not sure, are there any other similar less dangerous solutions or are anti weave bars not that bad really? HELP!
thanks
