Jumping over cars?!

They were jumping off a bank and down. Almost impossible to come to harm. Loved the little chestnut with the blaze who banked it and put hoof marks non the bonnet. Ive done dafter stuff.

Don't they jump over a car or jeep at some event or other? Sponsored by a car company, probably.

I think it's Badders where they jump between the back of two pickups..?

That video is terrifying.

Some of you need to lighten up a bit!!! Its just some normal riders enjoying themselves

:) :) :)
Wouldn't do it now at my age, but was just thinking the folk on this forum would have kittens at some of the things we tackled years ago, and never gave it a second thought.

I do not know where I found it, but there was a link to photos of horses with their riders from WW1 and WW2. Now THEY were what you would call scary jumps, and ditches. I honestly had to study it in disbelief for quite some time.

Needless to say I die of fright at a crosspole :D

I loveed the riderless horse that was like 'no way Jose' until someone else did it and he was like, ah alright then. Also, is it wrong I had a little laugh at the people getting very wet crossing the ditch? Don't see the enjoyment myself, can think of far better ways to spend a day off work!

Its the ditch featured after the car jump I would think was much more dangerous, with the steep slope up on the landing side!

It was a pretty standard double but much cleaner than you would find around the south of Ireland. The ones down in Killinick Country have overhanging trees, branches and wire to contend with and in a lot of cases when you land up on one you have to duck low as your horse takes off and thats with ordinary hunting, the Athlacca one shown is a charity cross country organised by Cheltenham banks king Enda Bolger and not for the faint hearted. Aren't the horses great though? Grab a neck strap and leave it to them!! The car one a bit pointless but with a "faced" Strong edge on the bank no real danger. Check out The Killinick Harriers videos on You Tube when you have nothing to do sometime.

Its not actually that dangerous a jump compared to wire, tape etc. That bank isn't bad for out in the field either, where I hunt occasionally we jump that but surrounded by low hanging branches and trees in the way of the landing site. I would love to know where it was held if anybody knows? It looks like a well planned/organised ride out.

Not the main reason I don't hunt but I wouldn't ever put my horses at such risk as hunting. I do XC, but that's made as safe as possible. I would never jump wire or massive ditches which weren't safe etc. Why jump a car? Pointless but then so is the rest of it.

I saw a photo of Princess Haya jumping an enormous parallel with a car parked under it. I think it was when she was based in Ireland with the late Paul Darragh and was jumping international for Jordan. I'm not sure whether the jump was at home or at a show.

This entirely. I take calculated risks all the time when eventing but I just don't get the point of this. To me, the chances of harming my horse would outweigh whatever buzz jumping the cars would give me. If I rocked up at a BE event and the course had a fence comprising metal and glass for him to shove a hoof through I wouldn't bother going to the start gate either!

Here in Australia, we also have these show jumping tournaments. Some of the groups still jumps cars but nowadays it’s hedges which is a lot safer here in Bararat.

Could somebody send me the video of ‘Athlacca 2013’. I can’t view it here in Australia.
