I too posted a video on here which to me, I found funny, whereas I did get quite a bit of stick (it was just my horse lunging so no riding stick) but obviously no one has the same sense of humour. Some found it funny, others didn't.

A video or pictures are only a snapshot of that moment in time so things can be taken the wrong way or mis understood.

I think its the way you handle the responses that counts, if you had just ignored the CC then maybe you wouldn't have got much more, but if you bite, they will just keep throwing the bait :D

I think asking for no CC is only encouraging more. If you're happy (even in those boots :p) and your horse is and you're both enjoying yourselves then just rise above it as you have the whole picture, not just the snapshot.

Just a few words of wisdom from what I have learnt, even if the pictures are perfect, someone will always find something :D:rolleyes:

I really dislike this. Sorry.

I feel that my first post was polite, reasonable, and with mild CC. Considering this is competing and TRAINING I tend to assume that people who just post photos want CC. Hey, virtually every time this poster posts she asks for CC. Normally, with CC, I don't offer any but this thread was rapidly making its way to the bottom of page 2 so I tried to respond as posts with no replies are sad.

Her response to me was rude- all that was needed, with unasked for CC, is a "Thank you for your comments. He does look great, doesn't he!". It diffuses situations nicely.

But anyway. Sorry for trying to bump this thread initially, offer advice based off my own experiences and generally be nice to the OP :)

Yea that video really wasn't funny... But you did take people's comments with good grace, whether you agreed with them or took them on board or not :D

FWIW, I did the same thing on here, posted a photo I thought was funny (well horrifically bad!) and got flamed for the grid being not right for him - mostly because I responded to the posters saying "striding's not right" but saying "no **** sherlock" because I could see that for myself! :cool: Not one of my finer moments on here :D
 
lolo... my first reply...I like riding in the boots. And shouldnt need to have a secure boot to jump. Not saying im secure in any of these pics becUse im not.

Yes im leaning yes im pivoting and legs all over place et etc this is all becUse he was beeing a brat and jumping from long strides run ing out and going on short strides etc so this is why i dnt have the position i ussually have.

I did say i didnt want any cc on these pics they were mearly put on here to laugh at me. I know my faults especially on these pics haha

Hes in fab condition thanks for noticing. But he isnot heavy i my hand he was that day as said befre was being a tool
But ussually hes fab and light when jumping.

Thanks for the input though. I am jumping again soo so will post actualy cc picz when i have done it. X






i didnt write as being rude i was writing defensivly as in the tack room i posted a weight pic and got comments on his feet and that hurt my feeling as i try my best with his feet. so i just went into defence mode. i thanked you for your comments and noticing his condition.

sorry if it seemed rude i really didnt mean it that way i apologise.

I wasn't having a go at anyone who has posted CC nor did I think you werent polite :confused: All I was saying to the OP was that if you put pics/videos in here you're going to get it whether you want it or not.

I agree she was slightly rude in her replies which was my point in my post, the way you reply to CC whether its wanted or not counts.

Like I said in my previous post, things are taken the wrong way and can be mis understood over an online forum, I think you may have taken my post the wrong way so I am sorry if it came across that way.

What I was trying to say was everyone is entitled to their own opinion i.e OP thinks its funny i.e others didn't. But there is nothing wrong with the people giving the CC......if that makes sense!? :D

But hey, no one is perfect! I just laugh it off now....otherwise I would cry :p

But I think the point people are trying to make is that you will find it easier to keep a correct, safe and effective position with the right equipment. This goes for everything that you and your horse wear. Everyone on here has had that less than perfect moment when the horse puts in an extra stride, takes one out etc but with the right gear you can lessen the effect you have on them thus help keeping yourself and them out of trouble. And yes you should have a secure boot to jump as you should a hat that doesn’t mean people do and at the end of the day it’s their choice.
A secure boot will give you a secure leg position which will help improve your riding which will improve your horse’s way of going. I think the reason you are struggling with your position isn’t just because he is being a brat but because you need to work on your position.
Pros always look perfect, well they should with the hours they spend on a horse but they still use proper leg ware, they will still be good without but when the horse is being a twonk why create an extra hindrance by wearing baggy boots.
Get the right boots so it helps you to improve which is what you want to do.

Oh and I had some less than perfect pics of mine trying and failing to do trot poles which I put in picture gallery the other day, if I had put them in here would have expected people to comment on my riding but I didn’t feel this was the right part of the forum to just put random pictures. Know your audience ;)
 
OP - I used to ride in my Dubarrys all the time, and I never saw the problem when people commented on photos as they were so comfy, just like slippers.

I fell off last year and my foot got caught in the stirrup, I badly sprained my ankle and really hurt myself. Asides from the schooling aspect of them they are actually quite dangerous and I make a concious effort to put my ariats and gaiters on 90% of the time I'm riding at home. Saying that I make decisions about what I ride in that are widely questioned and I appriciate you have the freedom to choose what you wear to ride, I think people highlighted it as they don't want you to end up getting hurt - and it's nice a bunch of strangers do that :)

Your horse is lovely and I'm sure with more lessons and settling time now the grass is through your partnership will grow.

First off PapaFrita I am not a 'youth'. Secondly, there WAS no argument? :0

My post was a response to the volume of posts slating the girls footwear. You have taken my post personally (when it was clearly indirect) and contradicted yourself with a "snarky" reply. No idea what the word means...perhaps its the slang of 'today's youth' :D:D:D
