Get some rails from local wood merchant normally pretty cheap its what i use personally work really well either use half rounds or full rounds

Try agricultural suppliers, they sell post & rail fencing & you should be able to get the round rails reasonably priced from them. They should have them in either 3" or 4" diameter.

I've been told that the tubes that carpets are rolled onto make fantastic jumping poles, especially if painted. I was told to ask in a carpet warehouse and they give them for free.

Hi friends,

Learnt to jump in NW Scotland, over metal poles with sacking tied round, then progressed to a riding school in Liverpool who used any branches they could find!

Then my family moved to Cheshire, we ask local bloke for poles, + price differed - ie, whether they were for agricultural use, or horsey ?!!!! Let's all be careful - sometimes it seems like us horsey folk are easy picking, as we're so willing to pay?

Hi, My-Chestnut-Mare, with all the forestry in Aberdeenshire, it'd be nice if you had access to a few poles, as a local resident, and i sincerely hope that you soon will. My only knowledge of cheap (+ good) poles is Clear Round in Cheshire (01745 no.), + i'm going back a few years, but may be worth a Google?

Hoping we've all helped, given more ideas, etc, all bests, BS x
