Jumping Pony - Will This Rider Fit?

Quick bit of advice needed. We have a very experienced 13.2hh stocky purebred NF jumping pony who has had some time off having a foal and is now back in work. Our eldest child is 12yo, 5'4" and 8st. Do you think the pony could carry a rider this size and weight? He will look a little big on her but she's a strong pony and will need someone reasonably robust to be able to hold her jumping.

Thoughts appreciated.

All depends on the build of the child, after all I am just under 5'6 so only two inches thereabouts taller and I was riding a 13.2 a few years back when one of my horses was out of action... Although I did look a bit big!
 
Yep defintely fine, my sister refuses to ride any of my 16hh horses full time so still rides her 13.2 NF mare (or will when shes been weaned), shes 5'2" and 10 stone, she actually looks fine on her aswell.

Christmas_Clairy - that's so reassuring. He would be so happy if he thought he could compete her as, aside from her being a wonderful jumping pony, we love her so much and she's become a real member of the family. I've been telling him he's too big/heavy but perhaps I've been wrong...

If she is a typical NF's are like I can't recommend them highly enough!
 
She doesn't look too big at all... Fingers crossed he'll fit. I must admit I do have a habit of thinking he's outgrown ponies before he actually has as I'm always so worried that they get hurt backs, legs etc.

There are children jumping ponies who do look large on them and the ponies cope. Her being a native will help, I'm sure. I have def seem ads for 14.2's for sale reading something like "6'2" rider has outgrown" and, proportionately, he's not that big or heavy.

Im 5ft4 and 11 stone I regularly compete my 14hh connemara. he has never struggled with my weight even when i put on over 2 stone due to a medical condition (now thankfully back off due to tablets).

my dad hacks my connemara out occasionaly (he works abroad so not often), and he is the wrong side of 13 stone. pony has never had a problem with it, my dad gets on and normaly the pony drags him to the gate and stands there shoveing the gate to get out, then we normaly have a good gallop somewhere on the hack and the connemara is always at the front (infront of my 16hh tb) and normaly pulling like a steam train.

people seriously underestimate what natives can carry. and whilst i wouldnt let my dad jump my connie on a regular basis, they do pop the odd log on a hack

My 6ft brother occasionaly rides the connie as well, and whilst he looks very big on the connie, the pony has never struggled, however we dont do this often because the pony is a bit too much for my brother to handle concidering he has only been riding a year and the pony is rather sensitive to the leg.
 
I occasionally rode my 13.2hh PBA and I'm 5ft 4 and 10 stone, she can still drag me round a 3ft course with no problem, so I'm guessing they will be absolutely fine together!
