We are looking for a relatively inexpensive jumping saddle - not a synthetic and preferably flocked as I am nervous of foam panels due to lack of adjustment. Need a fairly supportive shape as will be used on a very bold and extravagant jumper both SJ and occasionally hunting in the season. Horse is 17hh KWPN with a good shoulder if that helps.

Have tried to find something in the used market but drawn blank,

I've just bought a Fairfax jump saddle. It was relatively inexpensive, seems like good quality leather, and is adjustable. I think it is flocked but with prolite covering - if you google Fairfax saddles you'll be able to find their website and correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't yet jumped anything other than a cross pole in it, but the knee blocks are moveable and I found it very supportive when hacking at the weekend, despite a few spins and leaps from the new pony. He's a 16hh ISH with wide shoulders. I think his is a MW. From my very limited experience of it so far, I'd recommend it.

I have just bought a Kent and Masters jumping saddle with fits my very awkward Salle Francais perfectly due to being able to adjust it so easily. It is also the most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden in, in about 22 years. I would recommend Kent and Masters saddles to anyone.

Both the Fairfax and Kent and Masters are made by Thorowgood.
The Fairfax is slightly posher design but made on the same tree.

I have the Kent and Masters and its a really good quality saddle. Quite a few on here have them and all love them

Did you try the K2? just would be interested in what you thought of the differences? I didn't really have much of a choice as my horses shape (big shoulders) ruled out most of my personal preferences.

We did try the K2 jump - it was lovely to ride on and jump smaller fences (up to 1.10), but over anything bigger it felt a bit restrictive. Personal preferences of course and it is affected by the size of the rider. Horse wise it did not fit as well as the Kontrol, although Albion would make to a template if needed. Horse sounds like yours, decent wither and big shoulders so do try the K2. I liked it personally and would have been happy as a more 'general' rider to have it, however the horse jumps and no 1 rider doesn't like too much bulk.

It is a case of trying everything which looks like a match I think - too expensive to make a mistake!

I just had a ideal impala made for my boy, i didnt want a close contact saddle, but didnt want anything to blocky either! Mine has doe skin seat and knee rolls so you just dont budge in it, fab for all kinds of jumping.
