I really need a new saddle for my horse - I'd like a jumping saddle as I've already got a GP and a dressage saddle (you can tell I really need one, can't you

)

I want a decent one that looks smart but I don't want to pay loads of money (as I don't have it!). I'm thinking around £700, either new or second hand. What are the best jumping saddles that I'd be able to get for that price?

Sorry to sound negative but I have just taken my horse for a saddle fitting and just like the last 3 saddle fittings with this horse and my other horse, there was only 1 saddle that fitted each time, so its no good saying that you want a certain saddle as there will be a good chance that the one you decide on, wont fit. I wanted a certain saddle but it didnt fit at all.
I have an Ideal Grandee and this is nice, and I have just given a Stubben MF in part-ex for a new Passier Marcus Ehning (sp) jump saddle. These saddles are the only ones at the time that fit my horses. So I didnt have a choice at all, and I have come to the conclusion that if I need a new saddle because the old one doesnt fit, I just take the horse to the fitting place and tell them to just find one that fits.

In answer to your question, the Stubben was sooo comfortable and I went from jumping 1m to 1m20 in a short time as it was so secure and deep. But unfortunately, it no longer fits as my horse has changed shape since I bought the saddle 6 months ago. So the only one that fitted at the shop this time was the Passier. This is also very nice but I have only had it 5 days so I cant really say a lot about it.
Hopefully this will help you a little bit.

I've just ordered a Devoucoux Chiberta, which is the single flap with knee and thigh rolls. Because I'm so small (5 feet 1) and my horse is 16.1, I have a problem with my lower leg slipping back, hence I need a saddle that will give me a secure position over a fence. The one I tried, which was still too big for me, gave me a much better, more secure position over a fence and I was able to follow the movement of her neck with my hands much better because of it.

Excellent, excellent saddles, and such good value. I have the Bavarian:

Saddle

I have jumped, hacked out and even done dressage in mine! I love it to bits, couldnt recommend a company more.
