Hi all,
I am after getting a new jumping saddle (well, when I say new i mean new to me but prob preloved by another :-) ).
I am after something pretty forward cut with decent blocks in it (particularly in front). When I had a nice jumping pony years ago I had a Stubben Siegfried which I really liked (although I would normally do everything in a dressage saddle so a cub saddle may have felt like an upgrade!! :-P)... Anything similar to suggest?
Basically would like the Bates Innova with extended blocks but in jumping form?
Myself and my bruises thank you :-D

Sure, just show up here when you want something. ;)

What about a Bates cc? They're pretty generous in the flap and have movable blocks.

Stubben makes some lovely saddles now. I have nothing against the older ones although I do think horses jump better in the new tree.

I love my Passier as their range always seems to fit my freakishly long thigh.

Butets, Amerigos, Devonceaux Prestige, etc are all lovely but pricey even used. The newer ones are also usually quite customised so can be tricky to find what you need off the rack and different models fit quite differently.

I like the John Whittaker saddles and they seem relatively reasonable.

I've sat in a few Equipes I like, although not so forward cut.

I'm cc only though, and hard to fit, so I have a fairly narrow range of favourites.

so I think stubbens are gold dust and the new spring loaded tree is just beautiful to ride in :D however i have a kent and masters and actually think its the nicest saddle ive ever ridden in fits both my tbs beautifully only got it as couldnt afford an albion but very pleased now :)

It totally depends on the shape of the horse, any recommendations without knowing that are not particularly helpful. Stubbens for example tend to fit narrower TB types, and older Stubbens are even too narrow in the gullet (esp at the rear) for that shape. Can you work with a good fitter to find something to work?

Which one of your lovely herd is going to be leaving the ground then?? Jeff???!! ;) :D

I had a nice Henri De Revel event saddle which was forward cut with nice blocks and it suited my long legs well. Not too pricey either, you can pick them up for around £400 new off ebay - not ideal I know but i knew the general size and just got my saddler to reflock it as the flocking is quite hard in them.
