Horse likes Equipe saddle (Dressage) I've also looked at and loved a Prestige mono flap jumping saddle, only sat on in the saddler shop so far but been told similar tree, not curved etc. Now horse and I obviously have champagne taste but beer money 🙈 I will raid his piggy bank if needed as of course the saddle has to be right but wondered if I'm over looking a saddle that doesn't cost 2/3 grand.

I'm hoping to get saddler out to try both but wondered if anyone could suggest something else that might suit. Horse is very flat backed and very wide, section D and is currently in an +2 in Equipe and will probably be 36/37 in prestige. I would love a big knee block in 17 inch. . . not much to ask 😬

Any suggestions really appreciated.

I believe john whitaker and prestige are made on the same tree, I've owned both and they looked identical! John whitaker are much cheaper second hand if you shop around

Thank you Hoof Prints that's really interesting to know!

How did you find riding in both? Any difference to how the horses went at all?

I found both exactly the same to be honest! I'd say the john whitaker was a harder leather compared to the prestige which is softer, but I had a seat saver on anyway so made little difference

In that case I'm hoping that my life time commitment to chocolate has softened my backside enough not to notice

Thank you so much for the feed back I'm going to have a saddle Google.

They do come up second hand if you are happy to trawl the web. I got a prestige jump saddle in great condition for £800 last year. I knew exactly what model, size and width I needed and it took about 3 Weeks for one to come up.

That's interesting Tiddlypom and a tad disappointing. Wide, large shoulder and flat back are a nightmare to fit.

Muddy-grey, I've been keeping an eye out on eBay/saddles direct etc for a few weeks and sadly nothing near the width I need seems to come up. I understand Prestige can be adjusted but I doubt they can go from 32/33 to 36/37.
Please feel free to throw more suggestions my way.

Look for a Frank Baines Elan. I have had 2, both for horses who also have had Equipe Synergies. The fit was identical. They don't have a huge block but I found them to be very secure. Regret selling mine now!

I have and equip expression jump which i got second hand for 1,300 they do come up a for little less but i wasn't that lucky!

Just watch that the expression and synergy are on different trees and fit slightly differently so i would try both before you buy :)

I love my Equipes (have the emporio dressage too) but they've both been worth every penny! <3 (champagne taste and prosecco budget here too!)

I found mine on Preloved so might be worth keeping an eye.on there. I had to have mine adjusted I think they can only go +-2 but I could be wrong

Keen to see where this thread goes. Sounds like my horse is a similar shape to OP - wide with a big shoulder and flat back. I settled on the Prestige Versailles in the end as it fit him best of all. The equipe didn't sit badly either but we don't get John Whitaker saddles here so can't comment on that. Did see some for sale online and thought they looked very similar..

OP the other saddle that fit his shape well was the Pessoa xp3 if that helps. Probably better than the equipe nut I can't remember what model the equipe was.. Possibly an older expression.

He wasn't too bad in the Bates elevation jumping saddle either but I hated it.
