I have just started to do a bit of jumping with my boy but as I generally concentrate on flatwork I only have a dressage saddle (fitted with flair). I would like to get a jumping saddle as I feel that it will help my position and be a bit safer but I don't have a lot of money to spend.

For information my horse is a 16.2hh warmblood with big shoulders and big movement. I will continue to concentrate on flatwork with him but would like to mix in a bit of jumping just to give him something else to think about.

Could anybody give me and feedback good or bad on the T6 Robert Whitaker Showjumper? These saddles seem to be very reasonably priced but I have never has a synthetic saddle before so am a bit unsure about them. Alternatively are there any good jumping saddles out there for under £500?
Thanks

Never tried the Thorowgood but have tried the Wintec GP. Overall I didn't think the Wintecs were all that great - they come up small in the seat (I'm tall, which doesn't help) and I find them hard. Also I'd avoid the Cair panels and go for flock.

However, if you want to do most of your riding in a comfy dressage saddle and just jump in the jump/GP, then there's no reason not to go for a budget synthetic saddle. You *might* be fine just going for a GP rather than a jump saddle as the jump saddles are very forward cut, which might affect your fella if he has big shoulders. A GP will see you over fences of about a metre or so, probably even higher.

Look into the Wintec and the Thorowgood saddles - Thorowgood you can only "tune" the fitting with the Fish system, with Wintec you replace the whole gullet of the saddle. Maybe ask a saddler? For around £500 you can also consider Saddle Company saddles, where the whole of the saddle can be adjusted in one of their templating machines. I have a practically-new Saddle Co 17.5 in event saddle for sale, you know! Also ask your saddler if they have anything second-hand in leather? Really it's a case of sittng (ideally, riding) in a few and seeing what suits you and your horse.

Thorowgood saddles are adjusted by means of changing the Gullets, then fine tuning with the Fish.

OP, have posted a response on your other thread.
