Flower has got into the habit of jumping up and biting your hand/coat/sleeve or whatever she can get hold of. Not soo bad with me, mainly does it with kids. We shout loudly and firmly NO at her and turn away, but doesnt seem to be getting the message.

Any tips appriciated

Clicker training to jump up and 'shake hands' on command and only on command. Then you aren't going to command it.... Also clicker train for an alternative, acceptable behaviour like roll over for a tummy tickle. Then in the situations where the behaviour occurs, cue the acceptable behaviour. I have an enormous Beaucheron who did this, and it's worked for him.

Incidentally, I think that clicker training is magic - since I started it (I do agility and the trainer suggested it for the contacts) I've two dogs that walk beautifully at heel, come when called even when there are distractions like rabbits or squirrels to chase and who watch me for the next 'clicker game' and the opportunity to win a click and a reward (not always food - can be a touch or a game with a toy or just general hooligan running about). I'm sure they think that they are training me.....

If you get a plastic bottle and fill it up with stones - and keep walking in and out the door with it.
Every time she jumps up shake the bottle at her and tell her to sit, it makes such a loud nice.
She will get the idea our dog did after doing it twice!

We tried that method with a springer once that wasn't fully trained as a house dog as she was originally a gun dog and she took to the bottle like it was her best friend! She used to carry it around and shake it so it would rattle and be noisy!

You could try training discs - again its the noise like the stones that should distract the dog . As she goes to jump, throw them on the floor in front of her - you want to aim to pre-empt and break the habit pattern.

Out of interest when is she doing it? - out walking, when you get home, all the time (!)
