We don't have enough room for a sand school. The top part of our paddock is dry and flat - it isn't huge. Just angsting over whether I should put a couple of small jumps up for my daughter and her 13.2NF. Without a trailer I think they are getting a bit bored hacking out all the time, she has been schooling him in the paddock and it seems to be fine.

good idea, but i'd steer clear of wooden jumps if they're in the paddock as horses can find them delicious... plastic jumps are safer imho.
just be aware that, technically, you should have planning permission to put jumps into a grazing field, so if necessary check with neighbours first that it's okay.

Really?! I didn't know that. I was thinking of the polyjump type as I will be able to leave them out and my daughter will be able to move them around. Hopefully pony won't eat them although I know he will be obsessed with them for a few days as he is very nosey :-)

bloks etc would be a good idea. my horses seem to regard wooden jump poles rather as we would buttery corn on the cob... ;) ;)
you can slide plastic sleeves over wooden poles, that might help.
i'd steer clear of the multi-cup polyjumps (the uprights with 8 integral cups) because i've found they go very brittle in winter and the cups snap off very easily, which is annoying because they're not cheap!
the 'wings' that look like giant road cones with slats in them look pretty good, fwiw!

NOt sure how land is registered - we rent it very informally. Has always had ponies in and has a field shelter...would be really surprised if anyone said anything as no-one can see it other than lady we rent from and one other house...

I have jumps in my field. Not sure how it's registered either but my only neighbours are a crop field belonging to my land owner and some other horses who also jump in their field so I'm not too worried either :o I have poly poles, wooden poles, the 8 cup wings, 3rd blocks and some of the old style stands - that stands are
