Apologies in advance as I'm sure this has been asked before but can anyone tell me jump heights for 13.2hh pony ( in feet & inches please - metres mean nothing to me!) & what classes he would be eligible for? (he's not done any BSJA before).
Also how the 'day ticket' system works - I don't think he'll be terribly succesful as he's a brill jumper but he doesn't do speed. Nevertheless my daughter is keen to have a go just to say she's done it!

Depends on the age of your daughter!
If she's under 14 on the 1st of Jan she can do all 138cm classes like winter qualifiers etc but im not sure on the height of these!

But if shes over 14, she can do british novice, newcommers, foxhunter and any opens. BN is around 2ft9 NC is about 3ft 3 and fox im not sure...somewhere betweem 3ft 6 and 3ft 9? she can do all of these classes if shes under 14 aswel!

Hope this helps, someone else may be of more use

Thanks - she is 13 so within the age for the height of pony. Do the novice classes tend to end up with tons of clear rounds & lots flying round the jump-off courses? He'd be more suited to trickier jumping & less clears due to his lack of speed!

hi, sorry i dotn know the answer to you, but i thought i mgihtask a question on this thread instead of making another thread- hope you dont mind minesadouble!

I want to do BSJA on my horse he is 15:2hh and im 15, i was going to join when im 16 this year in december for next year, but would i still be classed as a junior?

under 16 on poines = junior member
under 16 (over 13) on poines + horses = junior associate

BN= 85 = 2ft9
NC = 1m = 3ft3
Fox = 1.20 = 3ft9

Then various opens at diff heights, think 138 tracks are 1.10. your daughter can do any class at any age on a 138.. its just she has to be under 14 to jump specific 138 classes.

Think you have confused some of the heights there...

A Junior Associate jumping a 15.2hh would have to jump seniors :-

BN = 90cm = 3'
Disco = 1m = 3'3"
Newcomers = 1.10m = 3'7"
Foxhunter = 1.20m = 3'11"
Grade C = 1.25m/1.30m = 4'1"/4'3"
Grades A & B = +++ = +++

You also have open classes at 1.05m / 1.10m / 1.20m and 1.30m+, as well as loads of Amateur classes from 80cm upto 1.20m

I think Emily was replying to the original post about 138's

But yes a 15.2hh has to jump in senior classes, but what Emily wrote was correct except for the fact that fox classes in juniors is only 1.10 so around 3ft 6/7 ish!

Depends on the venue as to whether you will get placed! But as you go higher the more chances a good double clear will get a placing whereas ponies can tend to whizz round the lower heights

Yes but I *think* you have to do seniors. Just be a bit careful if you do try as all the distances/striding etc. will be for horses rather than ponies.
