Just a bit of fun really, as the weather is bad in some places, are you a fair weather rider or do you ride in all weather? :D

I must say, i will ride in most things, but, i HATE riding when it's blowing a gale

I'll ride in any weather, or at least I used to. I now don't have a surface and most of my hacking is on roads, so if it impairs visibility beyond the point I think is safe to be on the road (even with hi vis) I won't ride, and I can't ride in my field if it's wet as it get slippery and trashed.

So I no longer ride when it's vile, though I would if I had off road hacking or a surface!

I wouldn't actually set off if it was peeing down, but don't mind getting caught out in it - I keep spare clothes in my car :D
Apart from that, pretty much anything goes, other than icy roads.

Nope, I'm an old lady and if the weather's so bad the horses are asking to come in then I don't ride them.

I cannot stand schooling in the rain/hail/snow - although will have lessons in bad weather as I only have them one a fortnight so dont like to miss them! If I'm out hacking/around the fields, dont really mind any weather so long as its not blowing a gale... too many opportunities for spooking!

I am a fair weather rider for two reasons. It is supposed to be fun and my boy is out 24/7 rugless in summer and if he is wet, I will not put a saddle on his back.

When I was younger and out and about doing dressage, pleasure rides etc I rode in most weather.

I don't like hacking in foul weather, I get cold and find it more hard work and unpleasant than its worth. I'll school in anything except ice, or strong winds and rain together.

I probably am a bit. Light rain etc ok but not pouring down. No fun for either of us. am currently eyeing up the weather out the window - have two to ride and it's minging outside :(. This is when I wish for an indoor school!

I did do a sponsored ride earlier this year in the pouring rain. Miserable! But it did make the tea and cake at the end that much more enjoyable !

I am most definitely a fair weather rider ........ I hate being wet, and Bailey hates being wet. If I ride in the rain he goes everywhere sideways to try and prevent the rain from going in his ears (fussy boy!) and takes an eternity to dry when we get back. He doesn't enjoy it and neither do I so I don't see the point!

When it's snowy/icy I tend not to ride as Bailey trips over everything so I don't fancy our chances on the ice!

If it's just a bit cold, windy or drizzly then i'll ride, but not if it's raining! :p

I won't ride out alone if it's windy though, Bailey thinks everything's out to get him when it's windy!

I used to ride in all weathers but have actually woken up to the fact that its supposed to be fun and whilst the Ginger Ninja may think he is an international showjumper, he isnt and therefore does not need exercising every day. If it rains more than 2 or 3 days in a row I will venture out whilst muttering darkly. I also dont like my tack getting trashed by the rain.

I'd never ride the mare if its raining/windy. She absolutely hates it and demonstrates how chestnut mare x Racehorse she can be!! My fault for having 2 orange horses I guess...

Although I salute all of you brave souls who ride in cruddy weather - Hardcore!!

Never used to be but I am now! I don't get in from work until half 6 normally and we don't have a yard, just a field. So the prospect of going down in winter after work, tacking up with only a head torch for company then going over the road in the dark to use our neighbour's menage was all a bit too much to take if rain was thrown into the equation!

I did commit to schooling in the rain on Tuesday though as we have stressage coming up. Felt pretty hardcore!

I would happily ride in all weathers . . . and have done . . . but Kal absolutely HATES driving rain and it's just not worth the argument so I have become a fair weather rider since owning him.

P

Am definitely a fair weather rider (indeed, friends at the yard joke about me :(). I hate the rain and H doesn't really like going out in it anyway. I have every sort of wet weather gear possible, but still find I get rain down my neck/soggy bottom etc - misery!

One day was out with my friend and H's mate when we were caught in a very unexpected downpour. They made some passing walkers hysterical when they RAN (not trotted or cantered!) under a tree to shelter! :D

I'll ride in all weathers apart from WIND! I put it down to me not liking it and keep trying to ride, but after nearly hitting the deck from massive spooks everytime on an otherwise extremely well behaved boy, I have decided he definately doesn't enjoy it so don't bother now if its windy.

My friend and I are fair weather riders mainly because we do not have anywhere under cover to feed/get ready etc. as we just have a rented field. It's no fun having to get on and sit on a wet saddle and have nowhere to go out of the cold/rain when we get back.

I've rode in strong winds and thunder & lightening storms - never really bothered me but if its bucketing it down with rain (I can do drizzle / very light rain) then its a defo no-no unless there's a indoor school :p LOL

I used to be a fair weather rider but since I worked out that Ethel is much harder work after a day off I decided to stop being a fairy and just get on with it! She used to hate being ridden in the rain but she seemed to get over it one day and isn't bothered now. I can hack around the gallops here, so hardly have to touch a road if I dont want to so doesn't matter too much if the weather affects visibility, though I always put a waterproof fluorescent sheet on her anyway.

I muchmuchmuch prefer riding when it's not chucking it down with rain, but will do unless its awful because my mare gets a bit nutty if she's not exercised constantly. I won't ride her in the wind though because I don't have a death wish!
I'll ride my gelding in any weather but he sulks in the rain and is very spooky in the wind so isn't particularly fun - but not impossible ;)

I ride in pretty much anything, as if it is really wet or windy or icy or snowy I can just go into the indoor school! :p

To be honest it has to be either persistant heavy rain, extremely strong wind, or ice to stop me hacking if that is what I plan to do. I have been out in some pretty adverse weather, and did dressage outdoors in the most foul driving rain too! My mare is pretty good and doesn't get upset.

I'll pretty much ride in any weather as long as it is safe to do so.

Really bad frost/ice it becomes impossible for me as the driveway and roads are too dangerous and the school freezes really easily unfortunately.

I do hate riding in driving rain though, although I do, I still hate it and so does my boy!
