Just thought i’d post this of Cobbus.

Last noveber and december he really wasn’t well, he lost an enormous amount of weight and despite being fed enough hay and hard feed for an 18hh hunter in hard work (he is a 13.2hh welsh c and not in work) he dropped so much weight the vet and i had a very serious conversation about whether we should pts. He had loads of investigations that found nothing.

i decided as he was still perky i’d plow on and my YO helped by popping feeds/haynets in for him through the day and he turned around.

he is now possibly on the flabby side of nice but he is back down to his normal feeds and normal haynets and maintaining what he is now so I don’t want to rock the boat.

so perky pictures of my 21yr old boy! Just because I can!

He looks great and he's also adorable, such a lovely face.

Glad he's improved so much for you.
Its difficult when the investigations all proved inconclusive, it's on our nature to want to know why something happened but pleased it's a happy outcome for you both.

Thanks all, I’m hoping to bring him back into work soon.
I’m still too heavy to ride him but i think some long-lining hacks out will get some weight off me and some strength back in his back. Will take it slow to ensure he doesn’t drop again.

the only result the vet (and her vet hospital colleagues) ever found was a blood test that showed there was low grade chronic inflammation somewhere.
we couldnt find the cause anywhere despite a trip up to the vet hospital.

any further investigations would have needed a GA and at his age that is not something i wanted to risk.

he is the kindest, loveliest pony out there. He adores Ellie and is so gentle with her. He is a superstar and it was awful him looking like a bag of bones.
