God it's only october and already I'm moaning about mud! To be fair it's not knee deep mud but fields are very wet. Horses don't seem fussed though! What are all your fields like?

After 48 hours of rain this week mine are a bit soggy around the edges, horses have muddy hooves:mad: If it stays dry today though they'll drain, I love sandy soil:)

Fields aren't too bad as we have individual paddocks so they don't get too churned up. The track to the fields (grass) is getting pretty churned up though - not nice on these dark mornings as I can't see the puddles and mud!

Our summer field is over the fetlocks around the gateway, and other wet sections. We tried to fence them out into the autumn field, which is surprisingly dry considering, and they keep breaking through the tape back into the summer field. Both fields have loads of grass, so theres no reason to break out - its just because they know that they can as our electric box got stolen last year! Going to have to buy another.

Am only 1 1/2 weeks into being at new rented fields. Looks like we're still on clay here (as only a couple of miles from the previous place which was also clay) so I expect it will get muddy in places, but as fields haven't been grazed for several years before I moved in they're currently in pretty good nick. Also, fortunately at the new place I have a much better choice of field rotation, so hopefully we'll be able to rotate frequently enough to avoid any particular bits getting trashed.

Mind, I don't have an arena - all schooling will be done in the fields - so its going to mean me learning a lot more about the best places in the fields to school, and making sure that I don't use the same places all the time when it's wet.

I'm on clay land, but thankfully we've only got a muddy area around the gate, I'm dreading it getting worse, my boy is susceptible to mud fever :(

Mine are not to bad yet, round the gate isnt great but dreading it this winter.
Have had a few dry windy days so it has helped dry them up a bit.
