Lol. It isn't even in my field. It really isn't my job to pull it up. I expect I will eventually as other livery clearly isn't going to but given that none of the horses can graze anywhere near it I've sort of been leaving it in the hope someone else will actually sort it out. Slim chance I know!

Y'know there's a good chance this thread is going to go the route of The Ragwort rather than The Beautifull Horse... :rolleyes::eek::cool:

I do think she is beautiful :D. Lovely face indeedy :D
 
What a lovely little girl... :D however I agree with JosieB, please protect her and pull up the ragwort, you may say it "isn't really your job" to pull it up but I disagree, I think it is all our job to keep ragwort under control. It doesn't look as though that field is even in use so noone will pull it up and it'll just end up in your field anyway.
 
ok ok ok lets walk away from ragwort as yes OP no doubt realises the harm and I just want to say as per youre post what a pretty little filly - really very very pretty with sweet eye - what will she make height wise and what you hoping for future ? very sweet :) x x
 
and mmm as some one who pulled up 20 barrow loads of florets at start of season and was crippled at night having spent 8 weeks on morphine and cocktail of tablets 9 months earlier (and now banned from doing more than 1 barrow if needed by my fella)- not big mature plants - and was laughed at by other livieries and told im" a good girl" when not one raised a hand to help trust me not all owners are aware of ragwort in thier
actual field so hey ho :) sorry had to say that as it hurt :) x

You should see how much is growing out on the verge of the A14 right next to my field. Don't see the council clambering to clear it up. Do you think I should go out on the dual carriageway and pull that too? I take care of what grows in with my two.

Are you one of those hysterical types that goes round looking for disaster everywhere? I've said twice none of the horses can reach it.

We'll be spraying it next year anyway so no need to get our knicks in a twist hey?
 
It's funny and this probably sounds bad, but I just assumed no one would comment because most people 'know' me and that my horses are basically looked after ok and that I probably know not to feed them ragwort.

Obviously I am not as immune to the forum as I thought!

Anywho, I think she is one of the prettiest horses I've ever seen. She's going to be a heart breaker when she grows up. I know I'm biased though! :)

She's going in on the 22nd for her little op. I'd post you a pic of her hock but god only knows what people would say about that! Not only do I have a ragwort plant in a field next to my horse that no horses can actually reach, said horse has also had a big hock for four months too! Someone call the RSPCA

Can't believe it's been that long, where the heck does time go?!
 
It has been a bit boring on here lately so I think you should post that pic of her hock - with her standing next to the ragwort. Do you have any barbed wire she could pose with :D:D:D Lovely filly:D

Well there is a picture of her lunging in my siggy and she's only 3. That has to be a good start right?
 
Nah that is not nearly enough. Our lad is not quite 3 yet and I have pics of lunging and long reining:eek::eek: Can you not free school her over some large oxers and then put her to harness and gallop her down the road:D

As for the Ragwort....I spend most of my life pulling it from my field.....only for it top blow back in from next doors hopless livery yard!
The A14?? Its the responsibility of the Highways Agency to pull it-they have contractors for that sort of thing and if you call them and tell them they *should* pull and spray it for you.
 
She has loose jumped a couple of times. I possibly even posted a video, must have been feeling brave! :D. O and she was laid over just after her third birthday! The more I look the more negligent I become!

She'd love to be allowed to gallop down the road. Going fast is her favourite thing. Little madam will have no ligaments left by the time I come to actually back her the way she is going!

Sadly not a hope. Her mum ended up fleabitten so I expect she'll go the same way. She doesn't seem to be greying out too quickly though so hopefully I'll get a few years before she is white and constantly poo stained!

Re the highways agency. They're useless! We spray every few years so it never gets too bad and I promise that I really do pull it up before they can eat it!
 
In all seriousness we have the same problem with the ragwort off the field behind us - it has 5 horses in and the owner is not in the least bothered. It blows seeds onto our paddocks. Last year I called the BHS ragwort line, the council and WHW - no one was all that interested. :(
 
They do. And they would come and do it but probably not until after it seeds when it's too late anyway really.

It isn't that bad. I pulled up everything in my field and the one next door this morning and it was little enough that I could just carry it under my arm back to the yard. I don't know how people end up with whole fields of it really. Quite impressive.

It's thistles I have a problem with. Thistles and docks. But mostly the the thistles. Hate them!
 
ignore the eeeejjjiiioootttssss! the forum can be great at times and then you have some not so nice people. i just tend to think "oh piss off" and carry onto the nicer people -- like you!



Your filly is a beauty!! how big will she get to? :D
