I have been posting many questions here lately and thought hmm maybe I should tell you all how much I enjoy sitting and reading all the posts here each evening!

I moved from UK not far off 5 years ago from S Wales, I have always owned or ridden horses since I could walk, did lots of groom work at shows and at SJ comp yard and horses have always been a huge social event for me throughout my life.

Now I live on a small island (1,300 people on) a mile off the coast of Norway, and while I have lots of friends here I really miss friendships within horse the community, being able to ask advice and gain more knowledge, as well as of course sharing the highs and lows of horse ownership. HHF totally replaces this for me, never take your horse community for granted (even when it gets a bit bitchy lol) as I really miss it. I am constantly envious when my sister (large livery yard /riding school owner) goes to events, comps, clinics, point2points, can get easy access to therapists (nearest 5 hrs away), farriers (no properly qualified ones I ever heard of here, it is legal here to shoe yourself and most do), Saddle fitter (my nearest is 8 hrs away), my equine vet is a 10 hour round trip for emergencies we have to use a cow vet!

I would not even consider owning a horse here if I was fairly new to the game, I am in no way the most experienced rider/owner but as I have said have a good grounding but HHF is a must for me living here...

A huge thank you to everyone who answers my questions, apart from my sister, you are the only people I can ask advice from or share my experiences with. Coming here really makes my day!

I can still learn through this forum, even if not in contact with horsey people with good english... talking horse in a different language can be hard for both parties, imagine relearning every word or phrase in horses that you know, even for the simple things bridle, headcollar, girth, yet alone on the bit, overreaching, names of feeds!

The upside is living in a stunning location, marrying my OH (Norwegian), owning a few private beaches to ride on and having a business online thats has not been done to death, I own a specialist import commpany, importing equestrian goods from UK. It is not all bad, just really stretches me...

Keep your posts coming, your all great

(Imagine riding at 3 am and it being light, now there is a plus point I forgot)

I must just add after becoming embarrassed re reading my post this morning, sorry for the typos and words the wrong way around in the sentences... I am not usually stupid lol!

I wrote the message around 1 or 2 am after taking my morphine pain relief for my lupus illness... always a bit dazed and confused when taking meds!

Hi Karen, what a nice post! So glad you enjoy the forum and all its goings ons! Your island sounds wonderful but I can quite understand how you must miss a horsey community.

My vet is from Norway!!

What a nice post, glad some of us are able to help even if it is just to 'be there' for you all those miles away. Your OH has a lot to answer for, moving you so far away from your comfort zone!

It does sound pretty idyllic there, fancy having your own beaches, must be great.
