Just a rant about rude, sarcastic seller!

I found a Racesafe bodyprotector on ebay, short back version (which are hard to find). I messaged the seller and asked if she would consider a Buy It Now as my current BP is too long for me and I have xc next weekend. She added a fair BIN price and I bought it.

I then listed my current BP for sale to help pay for new one, (starting at 99p with no buy it now price), apart from being too long for me it is in excellent condition and if for any reason new one didn't come in time I could still use mine for the weekend.

Then I get the following message from the seller....................................

"Just wondered why you were keen to purchase my body protector for your xc this weekend when you are selling one anyway? I wonder how much profit you'll make reselling mine?"

This really upset me as I had clearly explained why mine wasn't ideal and I needed a shorter version and she could see that mine had been listed after I had bought hers. Why do some people have to be so nasty?

If she added a fair BIN price then its not like she sold it to you for 99p is it so I can see her point but you explained and paid what you think is a fair price. anyway, once she has sold it then its up to you what you do with it!!! :D
 
What a silly thing for the seller to do... I'd be tempted to use the 'feedback' section to get my own back...?

I'd feel the same as you in this situation, I wouldnt reply to that message though, rise above it!

Haha yeah do the "Excellent item, etc but seller was rude" thing :D
 
i had a classic - got a snuggy rug on ebay at the mo - took the pic of it in my sitting room on the floor - which happens to have a fired earth rug on it - and got someone asking if the 'nice red rug was for sale'
so i replied saying - 'no - the horse rug - as per the description - is for sale'
and got a long paragraph rant about how rude i am and how the floor rug was far nicer than my stinking horse rug which they wouldnt want anyway LOL
made my day that did - chuckled for hours!

Its very easy for someone to be rude and nasty sat behind a computer, most I find are cowards and would not have the guts to tell you face to face.
Leave her negative feed back and state why.
 
Oh for goodness sake what an imbecile. I would reply and say you already explained that you needed a short back which is why you bought hers. Do it nicely so she looks like an idiot.

I had a kind of similar situation with a nasty person at the weekend. Was out with young horse for the first time and signalled to them to slow down, waved them past and then waved thanks. They stopped and rolled down the window and said really nastily "I actually do know how to pass a horse you know". It wouldn't have bothered me other than it was my neighbour who I really like and respect, son! I wasn't sure if he recognised me with a hat etc and I just felt it was so unfair and unjust that I felt like crying! I had his phone number so I sent him a text saying "sorry, first time out with young horse, most folk don't slow down, no offence intended" and signed it with my name. He didn't reply but passed me again with the same horse (I didn't know it was him til I waved) and he waved back then he sent a rely saying no problem, just a bit grumpy that's all (hope he meant himself not me) and then later he passed me again on another horse and we both sort of laughed and waved. So I felt better for tackling him about it (I wasn't sorry at all I knew I had done nothing wrong but I wanted to make him feel bad, I don't think he knew it was me even after he'd spoken to me).

I don't know why folk feel the need to do things like that. It depresses me :(

Ha that made me laugh! They shoudl be more careful about the category theyre looking in if they didnt want a horse rug!
 
Feedback is definitely your friend here.

I know this sounds awful to say this, but you really do come across some very *weird and thick* people on ebay. Hubs sells sports clothing as an ebay business, and comes across them all the time. I can always tell as his arms start flailing, and he has special swear words reserved for them..

aww no thats not nice to have happen :( Problem is you never know who can see that a horse is young and its better to be safe that sorry. I tend to wait a little behind any horse i come up behind and get riders glare at me and give me a look like im stupid for not going past but, IMO, I dont think it takes much for a rider to wave a car past and I would rather a car waited than just overtook. At least you can laugh now :)

Yeah it was horrible! I did realise on the 3rd time he over took me that his car sounds like its a lot closer than it is so I may have waved a bit more frantically than necessary but no where near the bounds of rude, and it was the second car which had passed us so I didn't know how she would react (she was completely fine). Anyway I'm glad I sorted it out or I'd still be feeling upset about it now :o
 
How about taking 2 minutes to send a message rexplaining you wanted a short one rather than the long you already have? I know you say you've explained once, but seems to have been misunderstood. For the time it took to write the post on here you could have cleared the air with her & left you both feeling better.

You realise how much you do it though when you got a youngster! My new yard in the winter i have to take mine up a couple of hundred yards of back road which can be quite busy. He was only just over 3 when i moved so i properly went overboard with asking people to slow or stop as he had never seen traffic that close before! Saying that though, at my old place i took my old (not age old) arab out for a hack and on a little bridge asked an Audi to slow, it just revved and went past and then he stuck his fingers up at me when she took aim at his car!! Needless to say expletives were shouted :rolleyes:

I seem to get the "thick ebayer syndrome people" who respond to my ads.
For instance, about a month ago, I was selling long riding boots on ebay, I listed all the measurements I could including the width at the ball of the foot, the circumference of the ankle, the circumference at midway up calf, circumference at top of boots and the measurement from floor to the top of the boot up the back seam as well as advice of the use of thick socks, jods and making allowances for that when measuring. I got 3 pairs sent back with people moaning they didn't fit but hadn't bothered to see if the boots would have fitted by measuring up for them BEFORE they bought them!
I also had the words in the advert "BLACK LONG RIDING BOOTS" I still got asked what colour were they and were they long boots or short boots by 2 different people!
I gave up and stopped selling the boots on ebay after that!

This was on Sunday and yes I did reply straight away............................

"I am sorry I thought I had explained? My bodyprotector is too long, I have been looking for a short back one to be listed as mine is not comfortable to ride in and bangs on the saddle. I am certainly not intending to sell yours as it is desperatley needed. If you read the description on mine it states the back length which is the standard version not the short and I listed it after i had bought yours"

I had no reply and she has not marked it as dispatched yet!!

I was walking around a market one day, miding my own business and this woman came up to me and asked could she try my shoes on! I thought htis was dead funny and let her. They fitted like a glove. Then she wanted first to swop me her flipflops for them then to buy them!
I did a swop for the flipflops! (They are really poor here)

I have to say (although I've never confronted anyone on it), it normally annoys the hell out of me when someone waves me past a horse.
I've no problem with a slow down wave, or asking me to wait til horse settles/wave past when they're comfortable and will always do the same (nice for a driver to know you've noticed them).

But the number around here who will happily wave me frantically past whilst I'm going round a corner :mad: I will never understand why they think it's better to overtake because they can see, than me wait to get round the corner onto an open road with passing places!

Um, because they think they are being kind to drivers they have held up? I do exactly the same for drivers who have been stuck behind me when I'm out cycling. Not every (in fact rather few) driver likes to be kept waiting. And in my experience, a road with one bend doesn't generally lead to an open one with passing places, it just leads to another corner so the hold up can last ages. They are country lanes, not A roads.

On the roads round here (have been hacking and driving them long enough) there are far more sensible places (and lots of them) to overtake on than a blind bend.
