Bloody horses.

Darling Jelly has grown so much in 2 months that now her saddle is completely ill fitting and far too narrow. The saddler can't come out for 2 weeks, and the physio is also busy for 2 weeks.

I'm obviously going to keep her fit by doing groundwork with her as much as I can however I'm worried she is going to lose all of the muscle she has built up, and therefore not need the saddle adjusting anymore. It's a never ending cycle! That will teach me not to think ahead and have the saddler booked in advance.

And in the meantime, I am going to end up having to do actual exercise to keep fit instead of riding. Pass me the wine and cake!!

If you long rein she wont lose any of the muscle she has built up and may well build up more. You wont need to do added exercise as long reining her up hill and down dale will have you fitter than a flea. Win, win.

Yes I think long reining was the plan, she's quite good at it which makes life easier for me.

As much as I love the idea of going bareback, she is a very spooky, bouncy little mare - I fear I may end up on my bum!
