Just back from Olympia - anyone know what's with the riders?

erm. she didn't that was Tuesday. Michel Hecart (sp?) won the speed class and Robert Smith won the Accumulator (fantastic riding, btw).
We did have a laugh at the second presentation, though.
Half a dozen very European, oh so dressagy, over bent flatwork meisters, cavorting around in circles with not a hope of half an inch (sorry, 1cm) of control.
And a Yorkshireman with his reins on the horse's neck, and the horse jolly well stood still.
I liked that.
And he was able to gallop flat out towards the exit with some hope of stopping!
As you can tell, I am a fan of Robert Smith! My daughters were less chuffed as Ellen was not on form in the Speed class, and wasn't in the Accumulator!

i was talking about last night sorry i thought you were also wher she mostcertainly did. First to go in the jump off and ten others couldnt catch her, including messers Whitaker and Smith!

blimey. OK I see.
I do wish she'd do her hair up though. Somehow Ellen's ponytail never looked quite so scruffy. I wondered if that's why Ellen has put hers up (or had it cut?) - looking at the flying portuguese mane!
Did they look happier last night then, as a group? Perhaps they'd run out of icecubes in the bar or something, in the afternoon?!

Didnt see many beaming smiles except from the winner to be fair and you are right about the hair, it is so chav like to hve it flowing all over but atleast there were no skull caps with diamante on them unlike last week in Budapest....

Everyone was happy and smiling this afternoon! Thought it was fantastic today but was disappointed with the foreign girl with long hair down to her bum just left down - looked awful, very messy and unprofessional. A plait or a hair net me thinks!

re: "skull caps with diamante on them"

apparently a couple of the very junior Whitakers were at Kingswood recently, sporting show jackets with their names in diamante on the backs... nice.

Those cossacks are something else!

Brilliant aren't they! Better at the Royal Welsh as the ring is bigger so they went much faster! Really enjoyed seeing them.

oh dear !! i like a bit of bling but there is nice bling and tacky bling !!

What is it with names? We have a local kid with her name all over everything from her jacket to her very expensive lorry - she's about 5, in lead reins, and since she has never won/done anything, everybody reads her jacket/lorry/ rugs/sweatscraper/ mother aloud and then says 'who?'
