Doesn't surprise me..we have a lot of deer round here and have seen evidence of how strong they are.
At our previous yard, we had electric fencing paddocks with 2in wide tape attached via heavy staples to thick wooden posts. A stage went through three of the paddocks when it was startled by the YO's pick up and pulled most of the fence posts out of the ground..they are not the greatest jumpers, despite the phrase 'jumps like a stag'!
This latter point was proven when I was driving to the yard one day and three huge deer chose to cross the road. They crashed through the hedge to my right, which luckily alerted me, and I missed them by swerving. One glanced off the bonnet of a car coming the other way, and the driver was so shocked he sat in his car speechless for a few minutes.
So you don;t have to be silly enough to rope one to get into trouble

OMG, I have just nearly had an asthma attack and I don't even have asthma! I am sat here in the middle of my heavy cold with tears streaming down my face from laughing. That was so well written!
