so honey has lost weight (yay) and now only has 4-5Kg to go to acceptable (despite snotty receptionist telling us they wouldn't do anything as she was sooooo overweight..)
Which means soon they will be putting her through for the hip replacement. Went to the vets to discuss what it involved (as dad does them in humans so can understand) and recovery etc. and its at the vets for at least 3 days post-op. Plus then at least 3-3 days 'cage' rest. Out dogs are never shut in anything less than a big room, I'm thinking we'll have to ge the cage soon so she can get used to it.
It just seems to real sudenly and I can't help thinking how miserable she's going to be, and this is just for one hip, the other will most likely be done as well....

Although I'm sure if you make the cage stay enjoyable for her, she'll get used to it. Remeber, it's the bestf or her and well done for getting so much weight off her! What kind of dog is she?

It will take her some time to get over the anaesthetic so she may probably feel secure in a cage - getting it early sounds a good idea.

thanks. she's a lab so likes her dinner! Poor poppet is so sad when I take her for walks, until she realises its swim time, then we get happy!

Lots of dogs actually like being in cages, it makes them feel safe, so you may be surprised. make a lot of fuss of her while she's there and I'm sure she will be fine. Good luck
