At the vets where we took Summer for her vacs and annual check up!

He's making a new program featuring our vets The Willows Referral Centre, Solihull and was sat in the waiting room inbetween filming!

I walked past him on the way to the coffee machine and would have totally not recognised him if it hadn't been for my partner telling me! My Gosh he is soooooo tall! And I'm 5ft 10"....

I'd have loved to ask him about his many colourful cravats but was too embarrassed and tongue tied.

My partner has seen the former England Manager in there in the past as well as the chap that played Siegfried Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small.

I'm indifferent to him.

I see snippets of his work that I like. I see snippets that I really don't like.

I don't think he should be on the padastool that he has somehow been put on, but I don't want to gauge my eyes out with a fork in the same way as I do when those 'Dog Daddy' videos appear on social media 🤢🤢🤢

Oh why is that? He seems to get problems ironed out although I realise it's probably not the quick fix most people think it is!
The poor old Goldie that was scared of walking on wooden floors springs to mind... He said she was being a Diva. She was actually obese with bad arthritis which was why she was scared of wooden srlippy floors. Scared of slipping not being a diva. Trying to stare down a Great Dane. Hes a pillock.

Don't get me started on Dog Daddy. I'm glad someone finally brought him up on here. I've never seen a trainer more detestable or irredeemable - even Cesar Milan (at least his original stuff) is more watchable and educational than the content Dog Daddy produces.

I blocked his page again the other day, after a lovely reel with him swinging a dog around him on a prong collar :mad: Vile human being.

I know the video you mean. I’ve watched him practically hang a dog with a choke chain, and yet the comment section is full of brain-washed lunatics going “thank you for saving this dog’s life!!!! You are so kind and caring and your love for animals shines through”

Exactly, what kind of person can watch that and not call it abuse. What kind of owner can stand by and watch someone do that to their dog ? There is a serious disconnect when it comes to dog training and peoples morals and judgement.

Whilst I would not advocate swinging a dog and I am not saying YAY CESAR! and purely in mind of the posts about police dogs mauling handlers and multiple posts and threads about dog attacks, if a dog is coming at you with teeth and you have the lead but no time to wodge a ball or a biscuit in it's gob, holding it calmly up and away from your body is one of the safest things to do. That absolutely does not look pretty.

Seems it's a bit of a thing for dog trainers not to be all they're cracked up to be or make themselves out to be of late. Anyone here involved with Absolute Dogs?

Yes that’s a real can of worms isn’t it .
To clarify, I’m not involved at all other than being aware of the person and their affix from agility .

The thing is, the majority of the dogs he works with aren’t going for him. He takes the lead from the owner, the dog starts trying to get away from him, and cue horrific misuse of a prong. By hanging, I literally mean hanging: small dog who wasn’t even showing any aggression, just fear, with the collar at the highest point in the neck, all four feet off the ground.

Of course, if you’re in a dog attack, you do what you have to do. But that’s a world away from ‘training’ a reactive dog by shutting it down completely.

No thank god, but I do feel very sorry for those that have paid lots of money to be involved with them.

I hear ya.

As I have said a lot of times, the commercialisation of dog training can sometimes be a curse and ethics can go right out the window when there is money to be made.

Where I lived at one time the Police dog kennels had a footpath/ bridlepath running behind the training area. The head trainer would hang the dogs from the chain link fence( would throw the lead over the fence and haul them up) and that was supposed to ‘ learn ‘um’! It was only stopped when walkers took their video cameras, way before phones, and sent them to the police and the local papers. I always think they must so relieved that the Interwebs was not a thing then. I also think Rodney Powell must be mightily relieved that his disgraceful performance at Badminton one year was before camera phones.

I always think if people are willing to behave in that way in public, what do they do behind closed doors. I don’t know who most of the people on this thread are but do they give any guidance to go forward with?
