he has a lovely face and looks like he’s been through a lot. Desperately needs to put on some condition too. He looks more thoroughbred than warmblood to me though!

How sad. That horse has been poor/ malnourished/ muscle wasted/ under developed for a very long time. I’d confidently suspect a veterinary issue there. Poor thing.

I agree. He looks crap. No topline, big hay belly and ribs showing, poverty lines on his bum and not a bit of muscle on him. Looks like he’s been out of work all winter and just dragged in and clipped!

If I remember correctly this horse has atrophy of the Trapezius Cervicus muscle which is the dip in front of the wither. It can be caused by poor riding/training and the horse being forced into an unatural position by the rider. It can also be caused by a saddle not fitted correctly.
Lateral work and raised poles would help to build this muscle up again.
His neck looks very weak too, possibly from being pulled into an outline.
