P.s pain killers suck they are never strong enough, do doctors not understand we are horsey peeps. We need good ones so we can just simply carry on as normal!!!!!

Try ibuprofen and co codemol together, nurses at the drop in centre told me to take this last weekend when I did my ankle and they really take the pain away.

Dont plan on moving tomorrow, you are going to be so sore.
I hope you have some good friends to look after horse.

Together?! Is it not that you alternate the two which allows you to take a painkiller every two hours as opposed to every 4?

Hope your feeling better soon OP.

i am going to go against the grain and as a nurse who has just done a stunt in a & e am going to say keep moving about as if you lie down to it your muscles with seize and cause more damage and slow the healing process down keep taking the pain releif given and see your doctor for sick line and repeat script for pain reliefd as they only give you a few days supply.

poor you

Oh dear that does sound painful, back injuries are the WORST! Hope you have some nice people to do the neds for a while, you will need to rest for a long time. Don't rush a back injury else you'l be in pain for the rest of your life! Sounds dramatic, but really it's true!

Now i've sufficiently scared you, go lie down and get people to bring you hot choccies! Tell them i say so.

Poor you. Keep miving about slowly and gently, no twisting. Turn into an OAP and borrow a rocking chair, the rocking motion keeps your back moving just enough to stop it seizing up again. Long term, find yourself (by recommend if you can) a really good back person, I use a mix of McTimony and Bowen, although I've also used traditional chiro and osteo and physios before, and a good sports masseuse.

Naughty horsie ! hope you feel better soon. I know exactly what pain you are going through ! Plenty of pain killers !

Im a knackered nurse.....

...I advise strong painkillers and anti-inflammatories....

...and a day at the yard keeping moving
grin.gif

NB...this is my remedy for everything....OH cant grasp why I start the day off unwell and am instantly mended by a trip to the yard and a ride
grin.gif

Oh.....and a hot bubbly bath and a (large) glass of wine...this is my other cure-all remedy

Hope you're feeling a bit better today

I take cuprofen plus and solpadien plus together, right or wrong it works a treat for me, I only take it in qaurter doses though, ie pink cuprofen cut in half and half of one solpadein cut in half, stick in same glass to dissolve and wheeeeeee off for 5 hour hack

Ouch! I totally sympathise as I had similar happen to me a few years back, unfortunatley whilst trying a horse out infront of it's owners (oh the embarassment).

I ended up in hospital via ambulance and I found the only thing that helped was industrial strength Co-codamol (prescribed by the doctors) and Voltarol gel (you can get it from the chemist) and gentle movement!

However nights were the worst and turning over in bed wasn't an option!

Hope you get better soon.
