I know the rule about breeding a Cremello stud to a Chestnut mare will always throw a Palomino

Does the same rule work if the Color of the mare and stud are reversed?

Sorry if anyone thinks this is a dumb question. I am just curious and I am no breeder.

Oooh! Just my kind of question!

It doesn't matter which way round it is, mum or dad, as long as one is one and the other is the other (if you know what I mean), it will always be a pally bambino!

Nice one Jade, are you planning something?
I like these colour questions.
So Chambon, if I may please, a chestnut overo (palomino sire/chestnut dam) to a cremello would get a palomino? What about if she went to a palomino stallion? Presumably chestnut to chestnut would get a chestnut?

Ok, It's a little early in the morning for me (and it's been a long night so far!), but I will have a crack...

A chestnut to a cremello (regardless of the parents colour of the chestnut) will produce a palomino 100% guaranteed. The same chestnut put to a palomino gives a 50% chance of a palomino and 50% chance of a chestnut. Chestnut to chestnut will always give chestnut.

The overo, though (if it's a true overo, not a splashed white or sabino) is also heterozygous so there's a 50% chance of your foal being a palomino overo....

good luck
