For a 16hh, 12 year old Dutch bred mare. Done RC/PC, XC schooled, hunted, BSJA winnings £270 notional, competed up to Newcomers. Trailblazers Reserve Champ 95cm, 5th 105cm. Now competing Prelim/Novice dressage, no blemishes or vices.

Any ideas?

£12000 - £14000?

I'm more of an all rounder pricer I think Lol! Would be interesting to see if someone else came up with the same price as me seeing as I have no idea

I changed the above price range about 3 times lol!

tee hee I did say I was rubbish! But that could be because I see so many over priced ponios around - it's distorting my brain

I would say around 5k if she had good recent form, DCs SJ and above 60% dressage scores, dropping to around 4k if she's not done much lately.

You are Miss Elz arent you? I remember the discussion a while back.

So is this mare your bay SJ'er who you no longer jump after an accident and are now doing dressage on?

If not,

, then I guess what I would pay would depend greatly on if the horse was still out there jumping, how long ago it had jumped, and if it still enjoyed it.

Assuming it was still out jumping, had no vices etc, then I would expect to pay about 4-5k

That was my first thought too!! Made me realise I spend too much time in here and remember too many details

If the mare is the same one Ive read about under posts from a different user name, I wouldn't pay a great deal if it has 'issues' with jumping - a SJ record isnt worth a great deal if the horse is scared to jump

However, prepared to be shot down in flames

Ha ha me too but I definitely remember, plus through the joys of 'show all users posts' I recall the discussions over it.

The mare I am asking about has never been mentioned on here before; she belongs to someone I know who is looking to sell, and, at £9K, I thought she was a little overpriced, so I thought I would ask on here to see what people thought! :P

I am sure MizElz has absolutely no intention of selling her mare - plus I think in her case, it was the rider, not the horse who had 'jumping issues'

If the horse was very straightforward to do and ride and could be ridden by a relatively inexperienced rider to gain experience then you can largely name your price and should be able to get a fair amout, otheriwse only about £4k max. This kind of horse would appeal massively to the up and coming RC rider, so her value IMO relates totally to how simple and straightforward to do she is!

I'd say between 5k and 6k...

She is getting older but not a write-off yet. Seems to have a limit of around 1.10m i'm guessing based on the BSJA winnings and history. Must be half decent against the clock though to get placed in TB's finals...they fly round them !

At the end of the day she's worth what someone is prepared to pay for her
