just curious

Road work is great for a healthy hoof. As long as we are consistent with what we are expecting the horse to do then there is no limit.

The problems come when we drag a thrushy horse out of a soft arena after living in a bog, then suddenly go for a long hack......That is where it's more fair to use boots.

Lami affected horses can also struggle with road work at peak sugar times.

I've personally never seen a healthy hoof with a decent diet be worn away by roadwork, despite the popular myth......

So the odd bit of in hand walk out for a max time of 30 mins, 10 of those mins on grass bridle path ( no more than 3 times a week) won't do any harm for a horse that hasn't left a field for the best part of a year?

Apart from having a bit of a low heal her feet are in reasonable condition.

I would imagine it will be positively beneficial.
