Update..... he’s eating it! Have slowly reduced the readigrass mixed in and today he ate about 80% of the trug in the field.

Halleys dont do the straw chop any more, they do the blocks though.

Thanks for the info, it is while since I used oat straw chaff, although if the cob isn't careful, I might start again next winter!

On a slightly different note, she has lost some weight since we made a kind of track in the field with water at one end. She came through winter rather too well

Mine wouldn't eat it for about five days, as I recollect. They gave in when they were hungry enough.

My Draft mare soon found out that if she wanted to eat, she had to eat the chaff!
