Hello all I haven't been on for a few weeks as lap top broke but OH actually managed to take it apart and fix it lol!

Anyway, over the last few weeks Bear has started to get very bulshey and seriously strong, Im to the point that Im nearly over the back of the saddle pulling against him as Im only 7 1/2 stone

The other day we were walking up a road that he's been up and down thousands of times and he decided to leap, buck and gallop up it as a car went down past him

My friend behind me was horrified and couldn't believe I managed to say on and then stop at the top!
I had a lesson the other day and he kept pi$$ing off with me, the instructor is his breeder and she couldn't believe how naughty he was , the last show he put in a hugeeeee buck, the judge said he almost went vertical

, out of the ring he was napping and threatening to rear/buck! You can ask Abbeybabbey and 28jen28 what he's usually like, he's usually an eeyore.
Bear very rarely bucks and when he does they are small, I was riding him in a french link egg but. Today I hacked him in his pelham as theres another show tomorrow so I thought I would have a working hack. I cantered in front... he was too strong and bucked, I tried in the middle and at the back and he's a git wherever he is

Ive got the back lady coming next week to check his back, is teeth are fine ect...
He'll be 5 next month, do you think its a phase? Its rediculous... my nice little quiet cob has dissapeared! Oh and his bum is up about 2 inches yet again!! He was meant to make 14.2hh and he's 15hh up front and 15.2hh on his bum

Help! I want my baby back!
Is there anything you could suggest? Try another bit?
I like to ride him in snaffles but at the min there is no way I can
frown.gif

My friend Anna who owns and works in a scrap yard can't hold him and she's really strong! She can't believe he's turned in to a devil child.

Please excuse my awful typing, Im a bit rusty!

And sorry its so long!

Sophie xx

I'll get my sister to video and take pics tomorrow at the show so you can see what a hell raiser he's turning in to.

No matter how strong your scrapyard friend is, she will be no match for a horse!!!

Its not about strength, its about skill

A horse will always win a test of strength..... its the battle of wits that you should aim to win

Like honeypots said, as he has had a growth spurt, getting his back and saddle fit checked would be my first port of call - You mention that you have a back specialist booked, but it may be worth contacting your saddler as well in case he doesn't fit his saddle as well as he could.

Good luck!

Im fine thanks! Been having driving lessons!!! Going really well! Got my little car that I drive a couple of times a week!
Ive named it Bertie lol!
His teeth are fine, they were done about 3 months ago.
Instructor said he might be testing me out but its the pulling part I can't cope with, it hurts to type lol! my shoulders/back and arms are killing!

28jen28- A said saddle still OK, I'll get Emma to have a look at it, but as soon as I have £200 I'll get a VSD

Sorry Jess, no he's been on the same field all summer, hardly any grass and I feed him a scoop of Hi Fi orig a day.

What ever the problem is I hope its not a permanent thing! I like my horses quiet now!

My cob was in a medium width saddle at five years, as an adult he's in an XXXW tree! He didn't stop growing until he was seven, and grew an inch of bone when he was six, so my gut feeling is saddle is too tight for Bear.

as most people on here are saying teeth back and saddle checked also get the vet to do a gerneral health check because my horse became realy notty and was not lame and it turned out it was his hocks that were causing the problem

Cos Ive heard from a few people he doesn't always do a brill job, I know he's a big bloke so Bear wouldn't need sedation, he could pin him down.
Ive heard about a bloke called George thats good.

I really dont think its his teeth though
