Hi,

So I was riding my new ish 4year old (who only finished being a racehorse in August) this morning. She has been fab and not a problem in any way so far but today was in school when yard owner turned out her 3 horses for the first time in a few days, they went bonkers! Lilly watched and was fine, carried on, big matbro tractor came past, didnt bat an eye! I thought what a lovely girl she was.

Then 5 mins later YO turned out her little pony & shetland who had been in for a week, they galloped off and lillys brain compleatly fell out, she went into orbit, I managed to stay on for half the school, spectators said quite impressed managed that long as there was lots of high speed crazy broncing!
Omph on the floor, heard boyfriend say a pretty tame swear word, then a delay of about 5 seconds then heard him shout a much worse swear word! I thought that was a bit of a delayed reaction, looked up and lilly had jumped out of the school, 3 layers of post and rail which is easily over 5' high! And had a electric fence with a 3or 4' gap the other side! Omg!

So now shes in with YO 3 big horses that had gone mental first. Cue alot of thundering round with all the excitement. It took about 10mins to get her, she was fine as were the others, im ok, bit sore!

Think we need to do some "getting to know the midget ponys" and I best not fall off her again or she will be back in field with those horses!

I guess on a positive side it shows she can jump, you have to be either brave on stupid to try that! The people watching said she just popped over it very casually, so hopefully she isnt in the stupid side! Maybe she will be my next event horse after all!

Blooming horses!

Whoops, but as you say at least you know there is lots and lots of natural ability in there. Sounds like you stayed on a lot longer then most of us would have! Hope you don’t feel to sore tomorrow, have a nice long, hot bath.

Hehehe that made me giggle! What a naughty (but rather clever!) girlie! Shame your OH didnt manage to get a pic of her massive jump

Hope you're feeling ok now x

Well I bet that got you off the floor ! no excuses for not being a jumping horse now. My horse HATE's little ponies more than anything I wonder why that is ??

I hope you're ok x

Merls used to hate shetties....we were at a yard once that did showing and stuff and one day a whole load of tiny horses to him turned up....I had to turn him out past these...well it was interesting he snorted past them pulling his head up and in like a stallion..oh bless him...and would prace about....on a couple of occasions I had to stick chain over nose...how funny that these little monsters are capable of scaring the bigguns ....

When there was a Shetland in my horses field they all went mad when they first saw it but then they used to fight over it - all of them seemed to want to claim it as their own - it was bizarre.

oo glad you're ok!

my 14.2hh did that, minus the electric tape round the school.

jumped the 5ft post and rail, galloped accross a field, jumped electric tape, about to jump babrbed wire when he had slowed down enough for me to jump out the side door!!

all i could think was ... wow the scope!

I thought I was going to stay on, although I dont think I would of fancied jumping out of the arena.

Think the idea is to relax when its happening, plus I was on lovely soft sand, last time I fell of it was being smashed into a very meaty xc jump at Brokenhurst BE so this fall was quite pleasent lol Im still a bit achey now thought!!!
