Just for fun - choose a dog!

How do you choose!
I narrowed them down by filtering out those who can’t be kept with other cats and dogs!

I think on that basis maybe Leo? I’m a sucker for a grey chinned wise faced black lab. They give the best cuddles!
If it was purely on looks alone I’d have about 20 of them 😂
 
Honey and Paige are doing it for me. I couldn't look any more as I have terrible dog envy but work full time so not fair/acceptable for any dog, (especially a rescue which probably needs a special set of circumstances/home and someone who is at home all the time at least to begin with). Damn.
 
I have just read this thread and looked on the site, and it is nice to see that a few of the names mentioned on the thread seem to have gone, hopefully to happy new homes. The spaces seem to have been taken up though. I like Beans, and also Blue the springer (@Cinnamontoast do you need a fourth?!) if going on initial impressions, although in the past I've always had bitches.

I set the location as 'Cardiff' and the travel distance as '10 miles' and it narrows it down to the dogs in the Cardiff centre.

Not really! If we were a few years down the line, I might, although I keep telling the OH I’m going to rescue a scruffy terrier when we move. I have to say, our three are such good dogs, I could easily add more.

I’ve just spotted a Norwegian Elkhound, tho, could be tempted. Looks like a very old boy. Edit: bless him, he’s 15 and sounds like he has doggy dementia 😢
 
Quite a lot more big bullies than there were when I first posted this thread. Like Nala, crikey she's big! Oh and a few romanian/overseas dogs too, can always tell by those sticky-out ears and colouration!

I used to volunteer to walk dogs for this place about 10 years ago, then it was mostly lurchers and staffies, now it appears to be mostly french bulldogs and bull-crosses - https://www.cardiffdogshome.co.uk/give-a-dog-a-home/dogs-available-for-rehoming/

it's so sad to see so many cropped ears popping up at the rescues. Like Helen on that link. And the badly bred Frenchies like "Yodena" (amazing name though). Such a shame

Agreed! Lots of frenchies/bullies bred for that blue/tan colour that was (still is?) so desirable but ignoring health/temperament etc if the number of them in rescue is anything to go by. And that poor Vienna, that's not a dog it's a blob.
 
Lola makes me sad. 16 weeks old and already burned through two homes and ended up at the Dogs Trust. Ditched from one home because she chased cats and because she displayed puppy behaviour. People are ridiculous. Do they think puppies are born obedient and fully trained?

It's sad to say it was no surprise at all that she is a cockerpoo. Unfortunately they seem to attract more than their fair share of idiots.

It is so sad that she is that young and has already been let down by two homes, apparently just because they had failed to research what puppies were actually like (and the work involved) before buying one. To be less than six months old and already resource guarding, 'terrorising cats', stealing human food and not being even partly house-trained implies that no one has ever made a serious effort to teach her how to behave appropriately or to instil boundaries. It doesn't sound like she displays any worrying behaviours for someone who is au fait with puppy training, so I really hope she lands on her paws and is re-homed with someone sensible soon.
