I have just found a soft lump slightly larger than a marble on my otherwise fit and healthy 7 year old Choc Labs tummy, just up from her teats and behind her hind leg.

She has just had a false pregnancy and was prescribed water tablets to scatter her milk.

I am going to make an appointment to take her to the vets tomorrow but i wondered if anyone here had any thoughts as to what this coud be?

Do take her to the vet. I have just had the same experience with my 9 year old Lab-found a lump near her front teat. She had her op to remove it last Monday and on Friday I had the wonderful news that it was benign. I'm surprised no-one heard my whoops of joy!
Keep us informed. good vibes for you.

Fatty lumps can develop on very strange places, and they can have several. One of my late dogs had three, and all on different places on the same side of her body.
But I would never take any chances, especially if it's anywhere near the teats, never gamble. If we're talking more up the backside of her upper thigh, then the chances for it being a fatty lump is better, but still not 100 %.

Good luck from Sweden.

My vet always told me if I found on a lump on my Beastie (she is going to be prone to them unfortunately) and I could move it around chances are it's a lipoma (fatty lump) although always to get them checked, especially if beside/on a teat.

These can often disappear on their own, but the vet does say if she develops any near her eye or obstructing anything he will have to surgically remove it.

I wouldnt worry too much. My mums dog has a huge lump on her tummy. She 17 and had it removed once and it came back.

Its doesnt cause her any pain and she still goes haring up the field happy as larry

Panic over! Vet reckons it is just a fatty lump. I have to keep an eye on it and watch for it getting larger or hard, otherwise, leave it alone!

Thanks everyone for your replies of support. I was imagining all sorts and fearing the worst.

Great news.
