Got back this morning from the nags (return journey took over 40 mins due to snow conditions - usually takes me 6 mins) to find that my brother was taken off to hospital….his leg wouldn’t STOP bleeding.

I took one look at the bathroom and then the bedroom which resembled 2 murder scenes! It’s taken me 2.5 hours to clean up the red stuff on my hands and knees as I don’t have a wet carpet cleaner. Can ANYONE recommend me one as I’ve told my brother he needs to buy one toot-sweet to start the cleaning saga again and again – have got the majority out though.

My brother is fine thank goodness – had to go and pick him up from the hospital as no taxis. Just going to have breakfast now… or is it brunch!.....and to top it my back is killing me so need to pop some pills. Off again in a mo as YO cannot get out to feed my horses. Haven’t got to work yet – postponed due to lack of time!

It’s a shame I can’t have a hot chocolate with brandy – I’ll deserve one this evening I think.

Can you get one from your local hire shop or supermarket? Ours hire them and it'd be much cheaper than buying one. Alternatively I'd get a carpet cleaning company to come out and do it properly. The supermarket ones are good but I don't think they ever get the carpet completely clean and it makes your horse smell a bit like wet dog.

Thank you Wellsat. I have tried hiring these machines out (3 times infact from different shops) and they all seem to have passed their sell by date (around here). The last time I shampooed the carpet in the lounge as doggie had an upset and the machine spat lots of water out but hardly had an suck and I was left with a really wet carpet.

Not good! I'd go for a professional firm then. We had our stairs and a double bedroom done after a workman trampled oil into the carpet. Cost just over £100 and looked good as new.

We've got a George, got it off of amazon, we use it to clean the cars and who knows whats been spilt on some of the seats and carpets!!! It does wet and dry and even sucks up stuff you've spilt.

Hope your brother is ok?

I hope you brother is feeling better...now cleaning up murder sites!
B&Q around here hire out rug doctors that I have heard to be good, but professional carpet cleaners don't charge alot relative to doing it yourself.
Until then cold water and biological washing powder. It seems to work well on blood. Or vanish foam spray as seen on tv. :D

Yes our local B & Q hire out carpet cleaners for £19.99 for 24hrs (think thats the right price) Be good to shampoo any other carpets whilst you had it if you could muster up the energy!!
