We have about 10 acres with only 2 horses on it and my sharer has inquired if she could put a small pony on there, so how much do you pay for just grass livery?
And is there any issues I should consider too? We would insist she has insurance and get a contract, and only accept it if the pony is a quiet reasonably low hasstle (as I want it to be a mainly hands off for me apart from dont mind changing a few rugs, the odd feed)
Thanks in advance, C
xx

Sort of depends on facilities and services available.

Round here (Thames Valley) you could pay anything between

£10 pw - field, maintained by you, no services, lack of facilities

to

£55 pw - great facilities (indoor/outdoor schools + lots more), daily check, daily hard feed and hay/haylage included as required

Well we have a grass arena set up with showjumps, x country jumps in another field and hacking and I dont mind rug changing or morning feeding and it would get seen on a at least 2x daily basis as I go out to see mine. Nothing very fancy mind.
I wouldnt really expect them to poo-pick, we have more land too so they just get rotated around the fields and its tractor maintained.

I have paid £15 pw for pure grass livery. Retirement type, so no facilities and that has always included a once a day check. Gone up to £25 in winter including hay. This is both in Midlands and Wiltshire areas.

I have my horse on grass livery at the 1st place I paid 65 per month had my own field and 3 run down stable that served well as run ins and storage to do what i liked with and had a yard and facilities, arena and jumps to use that was 5 minutes walk away. I have since moved as my horse was trashing the field in the winter. Now I pay 15 per week and keep my horse in a feild at a livery yard its fairly nice in the summer but muddy and no grass or shelter in the winter, use of all facilities and emergency stable. I am located in Oxfordshire.

My horse is out 24/7 as of monday so I am now paying £35 p/w and £5 p/w for retaining stable. I thought it was expensive but it does include use of two indoors and two outdoors. Difficult to find facilities like that in this area.

I pay £22 for all year 24 hr turnout, use of school and rug changing. Oh and I get a stable so yeah. I think aim for around £15.

I have one on grass and we have an outdoor school with full set of jumps, trailer parking, storage area and tack room and I pay £40 a month all year round

at our yard, it is £15 per week grass livery for under 14.2hh, £17 for over. large fields, good hacking, indoor and outdoor school etc, you know that you've seen it ;) which, for a small pony, would work out at about £60 a month. We had to use our own hay in the fields though, and while extra services were offered, a surcharge was added for these.

I pay 60 in summer and 85 in winter as hay is put out.

Emergency stable is available if needed, as well as flood light over school and flood light over stables / grooming area, also have my own section of tack room, electric and running water and tea and coffee facilities with fab hacking nearby.

Up till xmas I was charging £25pw per DIY regardless of size for:
Own paddock(s)
stable (whether they used stable or not)
storage for up to 50 small bales of hay as well as feed - and room for bedding too.
Damned good fencing with hedging & trees on boundaries.
Excellent hacking, no roadwork needed but only 3 miles from main station that is 25 mins from Waterloo,
I'd drop feeds in on occasions or straighten rugs, they had to pooh-pick.
No other facilities tho but local indoor school is a 25min walk.

I would rather have own fuzzy's than lodgers at present, but good luck & make sure you have proper agreement & 3rd party insurance :)

I pay £130 a month in the summer and £160 in the winter which includes hay.

I do have a stable and storage cupboard as well and we have an outdoor school with jumps.

Apart from from a nine plus, acre field for the horses which we rent, we keep two ponies at grass keep in the summer, and get charged £5 each a week, there are no facilities included , but it is right next to our small yard, thats why they are there.
Other ponies we get grazing for free!!

I pay £15 p/w for our pony and that stands whether you have a stable too or just grazing. I'm also lucky enough to get full use of the arena included in with the price.

Its 20 a week at my yard.
But also includes the use of school, sj and xc fences. Tie up point and the option of having a stable in the winter, at extra cost when needed.

Ok, well im thinking of asking her £15/20 depending on if she wants me to do mornings for her and the fact we have moderate facilities, there is tying up points/storage ect as well as the jumps. There is a stable she could put the pony in if needed (get it off the grass, ect.) but Id rather not - its handy to have it spare !

Hi I'm 35 for grass with use of stable and arena in summer and 85 for full livery in winter. That's in south lanarkshire.

I'm going to be moving to the liverpool area later this year, anyone know if I can expect to pay roughly the same? X

I would expect your prices to possibly be a bit cheaper. I live in (possibly) the most expensive bit of Wilts (private rent an ex council house.... Couldn't possibly afford to buy here!) and the kind of set up you're talking would probably be 20-50 in summer and 80-150 in winter.

My family is from Liverpool originally, it's a great place. Enjoy x

I pay £10 a week per horse, we have access to the outdoor school up the road.
Unlimited grazing on good grass.
Electric and post fencing.
Mains water tanks.
We pooh pick ourselves
We have a store room for feed etc

Owner of land does nothing at all, we are pure DIY grass livery.
