My horses wouldn't get hurt on a gazebo as none of the sods would go near it.

:D

One of mine probably would.
he would first snort at it, circle it, and act like he thought it would eat him, but if i was to leave him alone with one for half an hour, i would come back to find him wearing it, no doubt!!

Mine would. The bigger has been in a marquee no problems. And when daughters pony was 2, she was tiny, used to go in daughters playhouse. Plus would stick her head & neck into play tents, only prevented getting in from being too big. Reckon she'd get in a tent, let alone a gazebo.

I'm sorry but I find it quite scary that people who keep horses think this is a good idea. I'm hoping I've misunderstood and your all joking.

i don't think the gazebo would last very long. I used to have a protech shelter which is a large sturdy tent. It cost around £600. It took a bit of time for them to get used to it but they did use it to shelter from the sun. It lasted about 5 years - the gales eventually destroyed it. May be worth a look. Cheaper than building a shelter although for long term a proper built shelter would be best.

I tried to use a carport for storing hay (horses couldnt get anywhere near it) it lasted a couple of months until I found it blown into the lane - total waste of money !

If you have a trailer, park it in the field and it will give them some shelter as they can follow shade round it (I do mean closed up not open

Alternatively get some huge fence posts and get a farmer to put these deep in ground then attach fence panels to back and side(s) and use those roof sheets to put across top - back two posts would need to be much lower than front two posts (dont know if they do posts long enough) just a thought !

what about them shade things you can attach to the side of the house?

if you had buildings next to the field you could built something like that - a shelter and perhaps secure it with posts???

gazebo is a good idea intheory but with horses i dont think its 100% safe :)

Tried this we fixed it down 'horse proofed' it everything you could possibly think of to give them a bit of shelter - they walked in and out and seemed happy went home to have lunch half an hour later they were itching on the mangled remains of the car port/shelter and it was a really pricey one ! wouldn't bother again to be honest

My mum just gave me the idea a was sayin I need some shelter in this heat for the unicorns. She suggested a gazeboo . Though it was a brilliant idea they would be scared at first but so long as you secure it properly so it won't blow away. Thought I would share it with you Haha

Put it up outside the field....

Not great for midday but for the rest it's moveable enough, or pop a couple up and will still shade inside the field without destruction!

Well I would save it for you..

On the basis that my three staffords managed to pull mine over when doing the normal staffie race of doom around the garden...actually pull is more accurate, more like charged into..

So let me know if you have one you would like to sell!

:eek:Do you keep your Unicorns in France? i thought you were trying to give them shelter..not boil them!!;-) I couldn't even face going in my polytunnel today, it was like a slightly cooled down version of the metal hot box container we used for training & chip pan fire displays in the fire service!;)x

Agreed! It's hotter than being out in the sun and still carries all the harmful rays so won't stop sunburn :/
