Started off quite sane, was'nt as relaxed as she can be but we were riding in a group of 4 adults and 3 kids so cant blame her as she does'nt do to well in large groups.
Got on to common all very sane still, crossed over to the ranges where she got a bit more tense, had a trot which was ok but then did'nt walk after that, started bouncing around and then started to do her walk paced canter. Went down a hill still in her very slow bouncy canter then went up the hill the other side. We were only ment to be walking but she tried to take off then panicked because horse in front swiched her tail, so we ended up rearing while in the middle of a very steep hill:O!!!!!.
Put her in front to calm her down and had a canter along the top ridge and up another hill then she lost the plot completley.
She was going sideways in trot her head was all over the place she was dripping with sweat and foam everywhere, rearing and spinning around. Got so bloody fed up with it that me and friend swapped so I could have a rest, felt guilty though when watching my friend getting thrown around on my nutty mare!!!!!!!1

Poor you, you have my sympathies. I guess its one of those things that might get better the more she gets used to being in company or you might just have to decide that big groups aren't for you. Seven horses would completely blow Lil's mind, I've kind of accepted I'm never going to be able to hunt her.

I can't go out in big groups either :( our whole yard went on a trip to a local country park when they had an open bridleways day, we split into 2 groups (about 15 in each) - I was in the 'slow' group, we were out for 3 hours, and Dylan spent the whole ride either jogging, trotting or cantering sideways, accompanied by bit snatching and head tossing.

I think it happens quite a bit on these "fun rides" - the excitement is just toooooooooo much, and it's just exhausting for the rider. When my boy is a bit older, I'd love to try one, just have a feeling it could all get a bit fraught, as he was cut late and spends all his time talking to other horses he meets (which I love, very polite gentleman !!) . sm x
