...From Ad Trader as ive recently put one of my horses up for sale on their website. They said they were doing a special photo issue in the paper aswell as online for 3 weeks for £14.00... Would I be interested?

I said yes and let her carry on, she asked for my card details so I made up an excuse and asked her to call back...

How can you tell if its a scam or not?

Do not give them those details what soever, get what paper they are from, get their details from the internet and ring them.

Watchdog featured something like this a while ago with cars - hubby had actually been sucked into it - never had a single call from so said publication.

ask them to charge it to the card you used last time, if its genuine they should be able to do this

It was a free advertising website, i'll ring them up ask to speak to the person I was speaking to before. She was reluctant to give me her number so we shall see if it works!

freeads is FREE for just an ad and whilst not being a trader, but it does cost to place a bold ad or a picture in the paper version, best thing if you want to pay is to ring THEM!
