Just had call from vet, she has had op and is up at least - but had complications.

Firstly she appears to have an allergy to penicillin (despite having it before) so they had similar issues with her breathing to last time - although they managed to resolve enough to operate this time.

Second her fracture that was in 2 clean pieces when x-rayed last week was in several shattered bits. This will be due to the silly mare peeing off when loading yesterday and getting into 40 acres of rape and having a good canter about!!

Third - all the damaged bits of bone had damaged blood vessels, she had lots of damaged tissue that had to come out and has bled lots. Had to have drain in and there is probablility of wound management issues.

Finally - she tried to get up too quickly so gave them all a scare there.

Hopefully get to see her tomorrow eve, literally did not go to bed last night and been sat here at work in tears most of the day, waiting for the call. They were much later than planned due to all the complications.

If anyone, ever says to me again that "cobs are easy to keep" I will slap them - it is a lie. She is, supported by the vet, rather high maintenance!!!

I need good vibes please for a good recovery, I need my Molly pony home :(

My god your post brings back some bad memories for me. Waiting for that call is just the worst feeling, every minute feels like an hour and then when it does ring you get that sick feeling and scared to answer it.

Happy to say we are coming through it now so hang on in there coz the hard work is just about to start.

Another one here who has had a horse go under general anesthetic. Always such a worry, and my lad's a cobby thing too.

Sending lots of get well soon vibes to Molly, and a virtual glass of wine to you!
