Off the vet.

When I had Ted put to sleep the vet said it was going to cost 160 pounds.

They have only charged me £80??

I feel pretty crap at this moment in time.. I dont like seeing that written on a peice of paper.

It does make hard reading, not the bill amount but what it was for, hope you feel better soon Ann X
 
Was feeling great when I can back from the yard. In one week Cato has gone from camel to this

So i was really happy, Very pleased.

Then i got my vet bill.

Pay it and file it away. My OH has managed to stop crying about his horse, but when his bill arrived he broke down again.

I paid it using his card, and filed away all the paperwork. A year later he has managed to sort it all out.

Its hard, but just try not to look at it.

If it makes you feel any better my latest vet bill is over £200 (I know differnt circumstances) but still its £200 I'd rather keep!

Its the shock of it all.
Like Crazymare says, pay it as fast as possible and then file it away OR have a fire and burn it so as you never have to see it again.

Obviously it won't compensate for the loss... but maybe use the unexpected £80 for something you'd love but wouldn't normally treat yourself or your lovely new horse to.

Or do what my friend did when she lost a horse, and plant him an apple tree - all his friends remember him every summer.

im going to do that too.

its so hard isnt- horses are just fuillof ups and downs, i have obviously got a new horse and so elated, the next minute old horsey is in intensive care and im losing him... they really are bloody fragile. Go and enjoy Cato and practice all the many wonderful things that Ted taught you. x
 
im using the extra 80To finish paying the rest of my vet bill off. i owed 475 now i owe thirty excluding veting of new horse.
apple tree is a lovely idea. we might have to plant some pear trees as they were his favourite

someone is suggesting you plant a tree, could I suggest that you get in touch with World Horse Welfare, or as I know it the ILPH at hall farm, Norfolk, they have a most wonderful scheme, their land is paddocks, but not much shelter, so a few years ago, they came up with the idea of sponsor a tree, the trees are planted around the paddocks, and have on them, the name of the animal, it can even be a human, (or a goldfish) to whom the tree is dedicated. I live in Northern Ireland, but have now three trees, two dogs and a pony. My son was doing his docorate at Norwich Uni, so I really loved going to see him, and on the way seeing my trees, I am saving up to buy a bench, they are placed around paddocks, so you can go and sit, look at rescue horses and ponies and think of your loved animals (or people). The ILPH are very good to me, as obviously my times in Norfolk do not always fit in with their opening hours, but I ring them, and they always allow me to come. Sefton has a tree there, and lots of other famous horses etc. It does not cost a lot, and your £80 would go a long way. Think about it. Son is now in San Diego, California, but any excuse to go to Norfolk is welcomed!!!
