Anyone else heard of anything? Had email from a friend who has been tol by another person that their YO has asked them not to take horses out and about for the time being as there is strangles in the area? This yard is the ascot/windsor side of Maidenhead.....
Anyone else heard this? Have asked my farrier who is based very close to there and he hasn't heard anything. Meant to be doing a Windsor Great Park ride this weekend and not sure now whether to go or not.....
Gah, its one thing after the other at the moment!! SNow, then our local comp venue was closed as they had a horse they had to quarantine (not strangles apparently) and now this!!!

hmmmm. Im stabled in ascot and not heard anything, will have an ask around. went hacking to windsor park on sun as well so that is a bit worrying!

I'm not far away either Suzie and hadn't heard anything til this morning. If you find anything out could you post and let me know? THanks
Emma

It was the ym who told me and I think that it was the pony club who told her so imagine it will be right. Would also be grateful to hear what you manage to find Suzie.

Em is that faizel in the second pic on the sig? He looks so much like mozzie! Who tbh is also a chestnut anglo so suppose not overly surprising!
Will check back later for any updates.

right spoke to her and she didnt know but that doesn't mean its not true. She is ringing round the other yards around the park and will also get in touch with the enviromental department of the park to see if they know anything. Hope my ponio is ok over there, hoping to put her in foal this year

I have two horses that are stabled at Berkshire Riding Centre and can definately say that we have no strangles on the yard!!

Have also heard the rumors around the area about strangles but dont know why everybody is saying that it is at our yard.

Dont know where it has started from, has been going around for a week or so now. YO is trying to get it sorted as she has a BD show in a couple of weeks time.

Was told at one point that it was BCA that had the virus but it is not them either.

We are hacking out and schooling as usual and hoping to go to the great park if the weather ever gets better.

Two horses were diagnosed in Chobham 2nd jan. on mon 1st feb they were both tested and vet is confident they will both now be clear, well on way to recovery.

they had just moved to a new private yard and has been contained to 2 horses despite owner having 5 on diy. and additional 6 on yard are all clear.

Some local yards have tested for various tedious link reasons and all clear. Vet opinion was good hygeine and if out riding dont let horses touch or meet other horses/animals/people.

Have heard rumours in regard to polo clubs and BRC but rumours are gossip until proven and can cause harm. If concerned ring relevent yard owner and ask!!

Phew that is good to know that hopefully strangles isn't in the area, as doesn't sound like anyone has found a yard with it. We certainly haven't heard anything and we are very close to the park.

We are in Windsor, and our YO has just told us that a yard close to us is in quarantine with Strangles. Hopefully the liveries will remain on property as instructed and not venture out.

I think you would be OK to ride in the Great Park as Strangles if communicated by direct contact to the discharge/pus.

Always seems to be rumours of strangles, there was some about the winter before last but have heard nothing this year. We would normally hear about it quite quickly if it was in any of the polo clubs or yards.

I am in Windsor too and heard about this today. Do you happen to know which yard it is?

Confirmed - and it's scarily close to us, but I'm confident that it's being dealt with responsibly so I'm not panicking.

Yer there not trying to hold it they have told some yards in the area, although was slightly concerned that clients didnt know today and they visit other yards in the area too!!

Berkshire Riding Centre remains clear of strangles and has not had any cases of it. Unaware of any cases in the area. I think this forum may have created a concern where none existed as the original posts are many years old, and people seem to be responding to them as if they were new? However if there is other news let us know (please). Have checked with our vet and he is unaware of any cases locally.
