Despite saying there was no way I would take Mally out on Boxing Day, I somehow found myself at the meet this morning :o I figured she had been out enough a big meets, seen crowds and would cope in her usual amazing fashion... and of course, I was right :D

Boxing Day out with the Quorn is really wonderful, they meet infront of Prestwold Hall and the owners put on a wonderful meet, with plenty of jumps, alcohol and food (what more do you need!?) the crowds are always huge and they get a good show as the field gallop past more than a few times, especially with the addition of some 'Steeplechase' fences infront of the house.

Mally was, as ever, wonderful! She stood like a dream, galloped and jumped like a Pro, gave leads when necessary and generally never put a hoof wrong :D

I managed to complete a small ambition of mine, and not only jumped our very first hedge, but a hedge I have stared wistfully at for many years :D

My Dad made a little video, you can spot Mally jumping at the end of the 'Tally Ho' section.

Honest to God, I felt a wee bit teary galloping past that crowd - cheering and clapping with my wonderful little horse cantering and jumping so wonderfully :o

If you sadi to me last year that she would have been at this meet I would have laughed, if you'd pointed to the jumps and told me she'd be making them feel so easy, I'd have had you commited :D

Hope you all had as wonderful a Christmas as I did :D Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy :D

:D brilliant, what a lot of followers!!!! looks like great fun, glad you had a good time...

The Foot Followers were incredible today, I don't think I've ever seen so many people! It was amazing to here them all cheering and clapping, nice to know there is lots of support out there!

What a wonderful spectacle and so glad it all went well. Very jealous of such lovely places to meet.

I feel very lucky to live where I do, so central to everything and in the middle of beautiful hunting country. Plus I have a wonderful horse to take advantage of it all on! :D

Looks like so much fun! Makes me want to take roo.

It was amazing, despite being near enough crippled with a bad back afterwards (don't yank cones apart when building PC Games lanes, it leads to all sorts of pain!!) it was more than worth it! :D

That was amazing. She looks ace. I can't believe that Mally haters even exist!!!!
I did watch thinking that I could never do that with Lilly, I would be on my bum and her off galloping at the front within 1 min!!! Looks like a brilliant day out :)

My eyes were certainly watering when galloping down in front of the Hall....I'm not sure if it was the wind, tears or a bit of both!!!

Something very special to ride there, on a very special mare!

Mally Haters Pah :D What a fab wee horse you've got yourself a good-un with that horse. Well done aon your hard work Looking wonderful and sound like you had a ball!! :p:D

Haters are just jealous ;)

She is absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, the most amazing horse ever! That some numpty can take her, break her in, take her eventing and hunting AND have her be so wonderful all in less than a year, shows how truly wonderful she is! :D

Hah! The first time I took Mally out cubbing was awful, I didn't think she would take to hunting at all, but as usual, on her second go she was like an old pro!

Whether it be a large bay one, or a small grey one ;) :D

ahh you lucky thing! :) I desperately wanted to be out prestwold is hacking distance for me but haven't got a bit that will stop the tank yet and didn't think it would be fair on the crowds or the kiddywinks to go careering through them!

Sounds like you had a fantastic day :D *jealous sulky face* :p :)

Looking at the vid its no wonder my mare wouldnt settle and was herding the horses all day as you were only just down the road from me! I WILL be out next year :p :D

Very Jealous you have a great meet so close by and such wonderful followers and ground!!
Mally I'm sure wouldn't be so fab if it wasn't down to all your hard graft!!She's a credit to you well done and best wishes for 2012.
Not to take away from you but did love the 2 coloureds side saddle popping the hedge in unison!!:)

Mally is amazing, genuinely a superstar! So jealous, I haven't had fun hunting since I was 12 due to my lunatic horse who had no brakes at all regardless of what was in his gob- he went through wire rather than pull up :O

Brilliant :D

Very well done the pair of you :D:D

Thank you, it was a wonderful way to spend Boxing Day!

Nothing worse than being out on a horse without brakes, it's exhausting and how my big lad did his Check Ligament! So wise decision! Always other meets and other years.

What a great turn out:D

Mally looks fab and appears to be very sane......;):D:D:D

Prestwold is lovely - although the last time I was there it was my friends wedding so is a bit blurry......:D:D:D

She is amazing sane, at the meet she stands beautifully so that I can have a glass of port in one hand and a sausage roll (or several) in the other hand. Amazingly enough, so did Hen, I think my horses know what's important to me :D
Prestwold is beautiful, did anyone get told off for drunkenly riding the Bronze horse at your friend's wedding?? That's what normally happens ;) :D

Thank you, I think with Mally and I, we just compliment each other perfectly, so everything becomes very easy and straightforward. We are starting to get to the point where I think it and she does it. My Henry Horse is wonderful and will always be the most special horse ever, but I've never had the kind of bond I have with Mally with any other horse.

The two coloured were stunning, the smaller one was doing the most gorgeous, flicky-toed trot everytime he thought someone was looking at him! And the girl on the bigger one hasn't been riding sideways for long! I always say if she can jump it sideways, I feel I have to have a go!

Nothing worse than no brakes! :( I was saying to my Dad the other day, Mally seems to be a true Jack of all trades, yet not in a master of none kinda way. :D

PS. Can you see she's not a midget now?? :p

I'd like to yes but that of course would imply that I have some kind of recollection of the day......;):D and in my role of bridesmaid that would have been completely unacceptable:D:D:D

I concur- I stopped hunting him/ cantering out hacking/ trotting on grass in company (yes, he was insane- amazingly safe with jumps though, and very kind...) as he got older as it was getting unsafe. He retired from the listed items at 26, having been dubbed as totally unsafe for anyone :D

Unless the Quorn tends to only allow the under 14.2hhs out, then she's big- think because her body and legs match she looks less so. Reg is all leg so looks tall, even though we think he may now only be 16.2hh.

That looks amazing :) made me a bit teary watching it lol so many people.

If I had known about it I would have definately came on foot I live in Loughborough so a stones throw away.

What a brilliant way to spend boxing day well done the both of you :D

We have a lovely old chap at our yard a bit like that, had a majorly rough life, but eventually in his late twenties found someone as barking as he is and they hoon around together :D

Haha, I think she is a very compact horse, added that to me being so tall and she always looks dinky! I never think of her as being big either, until I see a 'noraml' sized person near her :D

It's a lovely tradition, lots of the little children I teach came up to watch, one of them asked her Dad to buy the house LOL :D

Thank you, it's the best way to work off the Turkey ;)

What a wonderful thing to be part of! And a big pat on the back to you for making her up so nicely - whatever you say, it's not easy, even with a good one.

I was teary for you! Something about it all just really gets me and I feel so proud of our hunts :D Glad you had a wonderful day, what a superstar Mally is
