Hello

I've been reading here for a while. I miss my H&H mag and the UK in general, however since I followed my SO to the USA I have been able to follow my dream since a kid and ride for a living.

I always showjumped and thought that I would pursue it here, however they have this weird sport here called Hunters, where those with the most money and well connected trainer wins, and unfortunately they are run with the Jumper shows. The people tend to be a bit snooty, and I just didn't fit in. So I tried eventing, and after 20 years of riding I have no idea why I didn't do it sooner, myself and my dutch warmblood who I brought here with me, have just had the most fun this season. We started in Training which I think is the equvilent to Pre-Novice, (next year we are going Prelim). We did so well that we qualified for the American Eventing Champs, which was last weekend, it was brilliant fun, and Leslie Law won my division.

So I just wanted to say Hi, and that reading all your stories makes me feel less homesick.

Hi
Sounds like some of the comps over here, but not always money , sleeping with them counts too. I did not say that.LOL
Glad you are enjoying eventing, post some pics and keep us informed, bet you are not missing our weather

Thanx for the Hello everyone.

I could get H&H sent here, but it would cost a fortune, about $700 which buys a lot of other kind of horse stuff, and their website is good.

And yes Carthorse, I was trying to be diplomatic, but that is often the case, and being female even if I wanted to, I'm the wrong gender

Saf I just turned 36 so not that much difference, and I still want to get good enough to do Advanced. And I agree one of the best things about this sport is the people, I guess this is a worldwide thing.

I have a link for photos of my last show, in fact this site does almost all the photos for the shows, at least around my area which is the midwest. http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/ThumbPage.aspx?e=3138520&g=1I&s=125

I'm the last three photos on that page and then over to the next thumnails.

My horse is called Fabio (i named him as he as a stallion when I bought him and has this big long wavy forelock, and yes he still loves me even tho he is no longer a stallion) I bought him off the stud in Holland when he as a baby, he is now 9. I had to leave him in the UK until I knew I was staying here, and i shipped him here 18 months ago. At the beginning of the season he would not go near water, and now he happily jumps in. We have one last show at the end of Oct, then I'll do some jumper and Dressage in the Winter. I also have another horse which is a baby TB which is a winter prospect to bring on and sell in Spring.

In the UK, is it a big leap or not to move from Pre-Novice to Novce? As here it is quite the jump to move from Training to Preliminary.
