Hi guys!
My name is Bec and I have just moved to the UK from Australia with my boyfriend. I am 21 years old and am living in Bayswater, London. I am horse mad and am loving how much you all care about horses over here! Not much of a summer though I have to say!! I have already been to 2 horse events which are so fantasic!! The clothes are so much better here than in Australia and it makes me miss my horse so much! I own a 4 yo TB mare who I have agisted while I am gone. I plan to be here for a while working.
Basically I want to get as much info about the horse scene here as possible. If you want to chat feel free to email me! I want as many horsey friends as I can get..the other kind are so boring!!
I have a few questions:
- Where can I find a reeallly good dressage, SJ and cross country instructor?? I am willing to travel on the trains and pay for someone very good! Im living in england so that i can go back and show the aussies how its really done! so i want a FAB instructor if u have any reccomendations.
- any news or other forums or websites to keep me up to date with the latest news/events.
- anyone who wants a friend to go and have a hack with can call me!
- anyone who knows someone who competes in endurance and needs a couple of riders for training rides (me and my boyfriend) we have both done alot of endurance and want to ride for someone here!!!!!

Thanks so much for reading, I hope to hear from a few of you soon!

Bec :-)

P.s we are living in London but want to work with horses so if any trainers/yard that need a hard working couple can contact me!!

Try the British dressage website (britishdressage.co.uk) and British Eventing (.com)

Try Talland Equestrian Centre - has loads of schoolmaster horses and lots of instructors to try different disciplines. Not far from the London train service either - nearest station Kemble, Gloucestershire

Hi,

Welcome to HHO and the UK too, the weather must be a bit of a shock to you.

I am of no help to you either I am afraid as I don't live anywhere near the UK anymore.

Thanks for your replys everyone! The weather isnt the best...haha! But I really love it here! It has a great atmosphere!
Also, my partner and I are looking for work with horses. We are extreamly motivated and hard working with a real passion for the industry with alot of experience. If you need some live in help please contact us to arrange meeting or for us to send our CV.
I also need a hacking partner so if you know anyone that has a spare horse and wants some company hacking out you can tell them to call me :-)
Once again, thanks for the warm welcome!

Welcome to the UK. I live in London too.

This chap teaches my friend who competes BE intermediate. She rates him. But I think he only teaches people on their own horses - otherwise I'd be over there like a shot.

I've not been here, purely because if I had a lesson I wanted it on Hobbit Pony. But its the the nearest place to London I have found that seems to have dressage schoolmasters.

You might be lucky that someone will want someone to ride for free close to London. (although if that existed I'd have hopefully found it by now!!) People do share their horses, going rate is £100-£150 per month for 2-3 days.

I have no advice on jobs but further out of London you go probably higher your chances.

Good Luck

Welcome to Great Britain!

I used to keep my horse in London and used to regularly ride it through London to Hyde Park etc.

As regards Endurance why not have a chat with Barbara Wigley that organises the Golden Horse Shoe Ride or Pat Con that organises the Red Dragon Ride.

I know that the yard in Kensington was looking for an instructor groom a few weeks ago.

I can give you their telephone numbers if you e-mail me on info@bhs-herts.org.uk
