Just out of interest, how many of you take your horses on holiday

I do, I used to work in Devon and now live and work in Essex. Every summer I go back to Devon with Marnie for a fortnight. I stay with a friend and Marnie stays at the yard I used to be at - I take hay and feed and just pay for the stable. Everyone there are friends and the stable just costs £10 oer week.

I do....

Been about 5 times so far.

4 times to Exmoor with friends. Go to the same cottage/stabling.

And once did a B&B weekend with a friend in Surrey. It was too hot!!

I went this year Norfolk/Suffolk it was fab, we rented a log cabin I went for long weekend, its cost £220 you could sleep 6 in the cabin , 4 of us went. It was £2 a day grazing and £5 extra for a stable. I had great time hacking fantastic straight out on to Thetford forest, and took a day trip to Holkcombe Beach which was the best day ever!

Going again next year fro certain

I have, for long weekends, twice. I went with Bridle Rides http://www.bridlerides.co.uk/ . The first time I went to north Norfolk, and the second time to the Ridgeway in Oxfordshire. Both were fantastic holidays. You go with a friend. they provide grazing/stable, dinner B and B, and detailed riding routes with maps and things to see etc. I would highly recommend it.

I have taken my horse a few times now, a couple of weeks ago we went just north of Pickering (North Yorks), cottage sleeps 5 (£185 Mon - Fri) + £8 per night for horse (turnout, stabling, hay and straw and use of menage).

Lincolnshire can't remember cost of cottage but horse was £10 per night (turnout, stabling, hay and straw)

Northumberland - again can't remember cost of cottage but I think it was £40 for the horse (turnout, stabling, hay and straw)

I have to add - I do go on holiday without my horse as well!

We have been doing this since 2004, to the same place on Bodmin Moor, to people who have now become our friends (and we bought a horse fromt hem last year!). We haven't been this year due to horse needing surgery, but most years we go for a 2 week holiday and several long weekends.

We go here:
www.brookbarnfarm.co.uk

We pay £35 a night for the chalet and the horses are £12 per night on straw or £14 per night on shavings, reduced to £10 a night whatever after 3 nights. We usually get a discount anyway due to spending so much time there.

Not sure if they are taking bookings right now as Lisa was badly injured last year out hunting and is still having surgery and what not.

i did this year to coldblow farm in detling, kent. it was something like £45 for person and horse diy from fri afternoon to sun afternoon. had a lovely time accomodation for 2 and 4 legged was all fab, great hacking, and hacked to Cobham manor for some SJ.
