What's your yard policy on charging for 2 ponies.
I'm just curious as one of our owners was selling a pony and meanwhile bought another one. She agreed that she could keep the 2 ponies at no extra cost until one was sold. However, the pony is no longer for sale and she is still paying the same as she was for one. She has a field which the ponies share and one stable. We pay all out own hay, bedding etc.
We pay an agreed amount to the YO between us each month so it doesn't affect me. I think the person who deals with the money did broach it with her recently as it was meant to be a temporary thing and she got a bit annoyed. I'm just curious really as I find it quite amusing that she's the person always complaining about the cost of everything and our facilities - isn't it always the way! I'd love to point out she's getting BOGOF but it just wouldn't be worth the agro!

It is a matter for the YO. If he chooses not to charge for the extra pony, then that is his business.

I don't charge for my best mates horse to be on my land. I have other liveries. What I charge and don't charge is my affair.

Sure - its no skin off my nose. Its just that she's the only one of us who ever complains about the cost which we find quite amusing.

I am sure the YO will sort it out, then you could well be in for another laugh... the pony will be back up for sale!

I know the sort, I have huge stables, 20 foot by 18 foot. One livery decided to divide her stable in half and house her grass livery horse in one side and her other horse on the other side... and expected to pay no more. She could not understand it when I explained that it meant she had 2 horses on stabled livery. The exra horse was still using hay & straw! It wasn't like I didn't have an extra stable she could have had... she was just trying to get 2 for the price of 1.

I agree, if you have 2 horses, then you have to pay to keep 2 horses.

But at the end of the day its down to the YO, its their business after all

The cheek of some people! Hope our owner doesn't read this - we might find the stable divided into 6 and sublet!
Our YO doesn't get involved in the running of the yard. We just pay a set amount to rent the yard and split it between us. I suppose it would make it a little cheaper if we included both ponies but not enough for me to worry about it. I just think its a cheek to then complain so much!
The best bit is she's refusing to pay £4.50 a month for her trailer, which the rest of us who have trailers have to pay. The person who collects the money for the YO has had to pay it for her for the last 3 months. She's a very nice person and got so much hassle when she asked for the money, she can't face asking again so pays it herself. Can't say I'd be quite so accommodating!

i think there is a reduced rate as we pay on top for hay/straw i think its a reduction of £5 for each horse after the first so if you had 2 horses it would be £35 pw for 2 instead of £40 or £50 for 3 instead of £60. but as we're only a small yard (only 11 horses) no-one is likely to have more than 2 horses at once unless some are kept on grass livery. at which point there is no reduction in cost @ £10 pw per horse

Quite! I can't understand why anybody would pay the way of a woman who obviously cares about nobody but herself! Bloomin' cheek to make somebody else pay for your trailer. Why on earth hasn't the person who collects the money just told the YO that the woman won't pay and is still paying for one pony when she has two there?
